We stayed in the Garden apartment. We found it spacious and, more importantly, close to everything we could need. My friends, who stayed in Manhattan, came over and were blown away at how much space we had compared to their place.
The apartment itself is old and cute. If you are looking for new, this isn't the place for you. However, it has character and plenty of room for 2 people. The shower is great, the bed is comfy, and the kitchen is nice. Even though we did zero cooking, it was nice to have a fridge.
Now, a little about the location. This apartment is 1 block, on either side, from the G subway line and the L (which is a 5 min trip to Manhattan). The apartment is also 1 block from restaurants, grocery stores, and laundry. There is literally 3 pubs on the corner, across the street. It's around a 7-15 min walk to really good shopping, a cinema, and (more) fun pubs/restaurants.
When I read the reviews on this place prior to booking I really didn't understand what an excellent location it is. Being that close to 2 major subway lines saved the day. We took the subway EVERYWHERE.
We loved our stay at the Garden Apartment and we are now in love with Brooklyn. We would stay here again in a heart beat!
