Brand new remodel in historic "Old Town" Spanish Wells

Full renovation completed in Dec 2022 on this vibrant home with classic Bahamian style architecture. Open, airy, full of natural light and ocean air. Charming, well equipped. Located on the Southeast end of the island, near 1st street; Old town SW. Mere feet from the water’s edge, directly on the harbour. Perfect for guests of all kinds. Kid friendly, fisherman friendly, girls trips. Fully A/C. New appliances in kitchen, coffee bar.

Every amenity to feel like home away from home, with tons of room for entertain and relaxing.


Features of this home include: open floor plan, large covered deck an open living room / dining room / kitchen area that opens up to a large, shaded porch
. Fully air-conditioned; also with ceiling fans in each room for when you want to let the ocean air in and open all the windows.

Not only does the living room look directly out on to the harbour, we have 2 large and tremendously comfortable sofas... perfect to watch the boats sail by or spend a lazy day in front of the TV.

We were a couple and stood 3 nights at this wonderful house. It is ample, decorated with much taste and has everything one may need. Very well situated, with a beautiful view and next to everything in Spanish Wells. Sasha was devoted to satisfying all our queries in a timely and kind manner. I strongly recommend!

We had a lovely stay at Salty Dog! We traveled with our toddler, so this spot was great for her to watch all the boat activity from the porch (as well as for us to hang out and relax while she napped). The place was spacious and clean, and it was nice to have a kitchen to make meals. Sacha was very helpful arranging airport pickup and golf cart rental. It was also easy to drive to beach access spots — it’s a gorgeous stretch of beach that we had practically to ourselves. Can’t wait until our next stay!

Great stay!

Cute cottage with plenty of space and lovely views of the harbor. We stayed for three nights with our two teens and everyone loved it! Our host helped us book a golf cart so we could get around the island, which I would recommend others to do as well.

Annual Trip

Had another wonderful trip to Spanish Wells. This was our first time staying in Salty Dog. We really enjoyed the views and watching the boats coming and going each day. Sitting on the front porch each morning having coffee was wonderful. The property manager Sacha took great care of us upon arrival and made sure we had everything we needed. Would not hesitate to book this property again.

Couples Trip

We had a wonderful trip. Salty Dogs was such a relaxing house for our trip. We loved coffee on the front porch with the wonderful view of the water. The beds were comfortable and a great remodeled kitchen as well.

Great escape

Place is perfect for a family of 4-5. We did run out of water (running water) twice, but was busy weekend on island and Sasha said at checkout the house has an auxiliary supply that we could have used if we had let her know. Otherwise, easy access to everything and place had all we needed.

Beautiful Home!

The Salty Dog was an amazing place! The view of the sunrise from the upper deck or front porch was spectacular. All of the rooms were clean and the kitchen was well stocked. We will be planning a return trip very soon! Thank you for making our on the island worry free.

Perfect House

This was our first visit to SW and this house is perfect! Short golf cart ride to the beach, close to everything you need, and beautiful view of the harbor! The house was very comfortable for a family and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils and appliances. We loved drinking coffee on the porch every morning!

Paradise

We LOVED our stay at the Salty Dog! We enjoyed being close to the marina. We saw dolphins, manatees, stingrays and met lots of lovely people. The front porch is a dream! The breeze coming through the open windows brought us pure joy! We will return when the good Lord says so😉

Lovely cottage

The cottage is lovely and overlooking the Harbour. Three comfortable bedrooms. The smallest bedroom does not have a closet or dresser of any type. Didn’t bother us but just an FYI. Some issues with the water dispenser so we ended having to buy our water. Very comfortable, clean and open.

Spanish Wells is a dream

First time staying in Spanish Wells after a few day visits. The people, the water, food and environment are amazing, absolutely beautiful. The house is adorable, clean and the view is incredible. Sleeping arrangements were perfect for our family of 4. Kitchen fully stocked. Good starter supplies on hand. Can’t wait to go back to this amazing island.

Beautiful property on the water in Spanish wells. The deck is so nice, overlooking the harbor. Lots of windows. Super comfy living room couches. Close to everything. Sacha the property manager was very responsive. Please note that electricity is not included at this property. Would definitely stay again.

The perfect house!

To say we liked staying at Salty Dogs is an understatement…we LOVED it! It is brand new and fully renovated. The house manager, Sasha, was so helpful and accommodating. Anything we needed she had for us at a moments notice. And the fresh eggs and coconuts they dropped off were the best surprise! The house is so charming and close to everything…literally steps to one of the best restaurants on the island. But the best part is the incredible view of the harbor where you can see the sunset and watch all boats go by. We have stayed in a few places over the years in Spanish Wells and this one by far was the best!

Wonderful Memories at the Salty Dog

Our stay at the Salty Dog was wonderful! The rental is just as it appears in the photos - clean and updated. Sasha was amazing - so responsive and helpful. She even sent me some suggestions and updates on events that were happening on the island (live music, etc). The only issue we had was that the water got shut off multiple times. This was an island-wide issue, not specific to the property and somewhat out of Sasha's control. However, there were a couple of nights that we had no water and were unable to shower or wash our hands with running water. That was not ideal, especially after being at the beach and fishing. The location was good - we were super close to the harbor so my boys could fish right off the dock but because of the proximity - there was a fair amount of traffic (mostly golf carts). Overall, it was a fun experience and Sasha was great!

Beautiful House and View

We booked Salty Dog for a family vacation. It was clean, in a great location and has fabulous views. There was a little confusion in the beginning with the bed situation. We originally book a queen, a double, and 2 twins. A couple weeks before the trip we realized the double bed switched to a twin bed + trundle. The trundle bed ended up having issues so the property manager quickly switched the bed back to a double and there were no other issues. We worked with the property manager and everything came out okay. I would recommend reading the fine print on the amenities when it comes to the utilities. We did not realize we were responsible for the utilities until we got there. This ended up not being a problem but we were surprised when this was brought to our attention. It is listed in the expended list of amenities but not on the main page of the listing. I just want to bring it to the next renters attention. We would 100% rent Salty Dog again. Everyone is nice, helpful, and wanting to make sure you have an enjoyable trip. We love Spanish Wells and will definitely be back!

First off the place looks in person just like the photos. My wife and I had been to SW in 2023, so I new exactly were Salty Dog was. I booked on line only to find that they charge for electricity for the A/C. It does not show up on the first page, you have to look at what is provided and that is were you find the additional charge (second page). I felt that was deceiving. I emailed Sacha the property manager and she said that is common for there to be an additional charge for A/C power. That is not true as I looked at about 20 places in 2023 & 2024 and Salty Dog is the only one I have found with that charge. Before I wrote the review I had reached out to Sacha and ask here what the A/C charges would be. It has been almost three weeks since we stayed. As of now, she has not responded. I wanted to keep this positive but I can't feel but one way, and it is deceptive to put it on the second page. If you have nothing to hide, then put it out front and let people to decide for themselves. The place is really nice, the first day we had a minor issue and Sacha jumped right on it. I hated to say anything about it and hoped Sacha would reach out and the charge would be minimum, but I don't know, so I had to be honest. It might come back that it was a minimum charge but the unknown is disappointing. Spanish Wells and Russell Island is a quaint laid back Island that are beautiful and no frills, as that is what drives me back to SW. Hope this helps future potential renters. JBH

We had a wonderful stay at Salty Dog! The home is in a perfect location — right on the harbor with beautiful views, and close enough to walk to the Shipyard restaurant (which we also loved), but far enough away that it was always peaceful and quiet.One of our favorite parts of the house was the front porch! We spent so much time out there enjoying coffee or drinks while watching the boats go by. Truly relaxing.The house itself was very well stocked with everything we needed — a fully equipped kitchen, beach chairs, towels, and even a cooler, which made our beach days super easy. Honestly, the island is so small and charming that you can’t really be in a bad location, but this spot felt especially convenient!Sacha was a wonderful host. She answered all of my questions before the trip and gave us great recommendations that made our stay even better!We would absolutely stay here again and are already planning our return trip!
