Sean, the owner, was welcoming before we even arrived - responding informatively to our endless questions about all things Egyptian: everything from tipping to the logistics of a day trip to Alexandria! As a Westerner who has lived and worked in Cairo, he is the perfect bridge between the tourist and the city. His colleague Wael (who was there to meet us on arrival) also went above and beyond - buying us extra towels and taking us for tea while the luggage was being taken up to the apartment. On to the the apartment: it is described as a penthouse and it really is luxurious and very large. As a family of four, we felt we were only occupying about half of it and it was such a welcome retreat after a day's hectic sightseeing. Shameful admission: it was also great that there is a full Netfix etc. entertainment system for tired parents after the kids have gone to bed - something we didn't find in any of the other places we stayed in Egypt. Finally it is opposite the British Embassy so impossible to get lost or give taxi drivers misdirections in the labyrinth of Cairo's streets! I really can't recommend this place highly enough. We left to spend our last 2 nights in Giza in front of the Pyramids. Whist that was of course a special experience, it wasn't a particularly luxurious one and in hindsight we probably would have preferred the comfort and space of Sean's apartment (for around the same price) which of course has its own wonderful view over the Nile.
