Welcome to our Adventure!

Our family-oriented, dog-friendly, unique retreat is a 4br/2ba, newly designed, home sitting on the outskirts of downtown Frankenmuth!
We are located 1 mi from all the restaurants, shops and events downtown Frankenmuth has to offer!
We offer a 6-person hot tub, 6 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, 6 bikes, firepit, wrap-around balcony, full indoor amenities, breakfast supplies, privacy fence and patio furniture!
This home is a destination to spend your hard-earned vacation time with your friends and family.

This home was designed by our family in 2023 with specific intent to introduce guests to our family adventures!

All of the bedrooms are lightly themed to reflect some of our favorite places: El Dorado, Gatlinburg, Marquette and San Diego.

Our common areas in the house provide games, art supplies, an extensive collection of records complete with first floor speakers (that connects to your phone), plenty of relaxing room and Smart TV's (for the rainy day).

But....in true adventure fashion, a majority of the fun can be had outdoors!
Since we are positioned 1 mi North of the expansive Cass River, we want you to take advantage of that with our kayaks and paddle boards....so bring truck(s) and straps. After a long day of watersports, enjoy our 6 person hot tub open all year!

Not a water person? We provide 6 bicycles to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL nationally-recognized trails and oh ya....not to mention the mere 5 minutes bike trip to downtown Frankenmuth!

We sponsor Lexington Coffee Company, in addition to multiple other Michigan sponsors for breakfast supplies. Enjoy mornings with our coffee bar, and nights with our Bartender's cocktail kit.

Additionally, we are dog-friendly because what adventure is truly complete without having your four-legged friend attempt to accompany you on a kayak?

*Dogs are not allowed in The Marquette Room or the Gatlinburg Room...and those are our only restrictions! We want to be allergy-conscious.

We made this place for your group to enjoy time together in a truly, "get away from it all," fashion.

We enjoyed our stay! Loved the location! Appreciated our breakfast goodies! We liked the fenced back yard but the grass was really long and made it difficult for our small dog to get around.

Wonderful stay for family!

We will definitely be back! Main floor bedroom for those who want to limit stairs. Fenced yard for the dog. Very clean! Extra blankets are easy to find. Bonus 3rd bathroom in the basement. The kitchen is so well-stocked! Wonderful pots and pans, spices, condiments, hot cocoa, coffee stations, and even some very yummy breakfast fixings left by the host. I can’t praise this place enough!!

Hot tub was a hit

Christmas in Frankenmuth was a wonderful trip. We were very comfortable and the host provided so many things for all age groups. Breakfast was great! We made pancakes, sausage, eggs & juice. Four year old kids and babies had everything there to keep them entertained! We loved the house!

A fun & comfortable stay

Our wedding was on Oct 19th & I'm so glad we chose to stay at the Odd Dog Retreat for two nights with a few friends in our wedding party! With all the festivities going on, we didn't spend much time at the house, but we were very comfortable when we were there. It was plenty spacious for us all. The beds & pillows were like a luxury hotel. The place was stocked with every amenity you can think of. And a few of us did make time to enjoy the awesome hot tub in the backyard! Enjoyable time with friends and my dog

Everything was wonderful for our weekend and Frankenmuth at the Odd Dog Retreat!! We enjoyed our time in the bustle of Frankenmuth and then we travelled just around the corner for some peaceful time at our rental. It was clean and comfortable, and I love that our pup is welcome!

Great Stay!

Very clean, strong communication and had everything we needed and more. The host has great brand products for you to use, kitchen is well stocked and a delicious breakfast was left for us. Plenty of yard games, fire wood for purchase and clean hot tub. Check out process was simple and did not have to do much. Very close to downtown. Would highly recommend staying here!

A Reteat for Sure!

This incredible home offers everything you could possibly need and then some. The host is exceptionally welcoming, and the house is incredibly cozy. There's plenty of space to explore, along with a variety of fun activities to keep you entertained if you wish. I would definitely recommend it!

Great retreat

What a great place you have. The beds were really comfy, the nice touch of breakast, and outdoor space was great. It was nice to jump into the hot tub which was super clean, and relax while other people sat in the outdoor space. Also loved the upstairs balcony, nice place to sit and read with a cup of coffee or cocktail! Thank you again

This beautiful house did a great job accommodating our three generations family vacation. A literal home away from home

I don't usually write reviews because I am content with my stays and find more reviews are from people who are discontent but I couldn't not write a review for The Odd Dog. This house is the BEST vacation house we've ever stayed in (we travel a lot as a team)!! When you stay in a rental/vacation home everything can feel sterile and cold, not this place. It was warm and inviting with every detail. The coffee, the windows open, furniture, games and books, it was truly spectacular. I could have stayed in the rental all day and skipped my games. The backyard is beautiful and all the yard games were a hit with the kids. Mackenzie was a fantastic host and we truly enjoyed our little bit of home in Frankenmuth.

Exceptional property and host!

So many great things to say about this property and our host Mackenzie. Very comfortable beds, fresh and new linens. Towels for shower and hot tub. You must check out all of the amenities. Our puppies loved it also and the doggy station was a very nice touch. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Easter weekend

Mackenzie’s place was amazing! Everything listed plus more were available. We had a great family weekend celebrating Easter. Location was perfect for both downtown shopping/eating and heading to Birch Run. We will definitely stay again if we return.

Beautiful, spacious, & cozy

Took a trip up here in March with 7 adults and a dog, absolutely loved this house! It has so many amenities I've never seen at a vacation house all the breakfast food, selection of teas, coffee, supply room with extra cleaning supplies, the dog mailbox, wood you could buy for the campfire, all the yard games, hot tub, bikes, and kayaks. The owner was very friendly, she was quick to response to any messages, and even offer to let us check in early. We enjoyed our evenings playing yard games, hanging in the hot tub, and I enjoyed taking evening bike rides. Very spacious house, we were all able to sit together at the dining room table for homecooked meals, we could all fit comfortable in the living room to play games or watch movies, and we didn't have to fight over bathrooms! Over all we all had a great time, loved the town, and would loved to go back someday.

Snowfest stay

We had a fantastic time at this property during snowfest 2024. We had 3 couples and it was perfect. We were able to walk to the main street and avoid the crazy parking. The house was nice and cozy to come back to and warm up in the hot tub. The house was very clean and decorated so cute! It was so considerate to have breakfast supplies available as well. Would highly recommend!

Family Christmas with my children and I.

My mostly adult children and I love going to Frankenmuth at Christmas time. We could not get enough hotel rooms for our family at local hotels so I checked the Vrbo app, This place came up as my best search recommendation! We are all So glad it did!!’ It was so lovely. The house was clean! The host was so good and she was extremely sweet and caring and went above and beyond in my opinion, to make sure we had a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody I know who wants a clean, comfortable place to stay! This is a must for being close to Frankenmuth but not quite right in the high traffic area!! My family gathering had 7 people (between the ages of 17 and 48) there the first Saturday and Sunday of December and every single one of my children us want to give it a five star review and want to go back again next year for a longer wknd!
