We are Scott and Jan Roundy, owners of Escalante Yurts. We were both raised in Idaho and moved to Utah when we were married. We raised our two kids traveling to Escalante to visit grandparents and exploring the high desert. We enjoyed camping, side by side rides, and doing all things outdoors together. When we became empty nesters, we decided to make the leap into entrepreneurship. We sold our family home, many belongings, left our jobs, and jumped with both feet into creating Escalante Yurts. The land that Escalante Yurts sits on is the land that Scotts family settled 6 generations ago. It is very special to us that this land stayed in the family. Scott’s dad retired here and wanted this legacy to continue. We felt the same but knew we needed a way to make a living in a remote area. We initially thought of a bed and breakfast type of business, but that seemed a little old-fashioned. So, we did our best to modernize the idea of a BNB and that’s where the idea for luxury glamping came from. We started with absolutely nothing on the property and had to build everything from the ground up. What was initially a lot of hard work eventually turned into a labor of love. We have put our heart and soul into Escalante Yurts. We love it here, and we hope you find some rest from your busy lives when you visit. Consider it your home away from home!
