Avoid This Property!
Avoid booking this property at all costs. I booked it due to its proximity to an event I was attending without researching the neighborhood, which was a huge mistake. When I arrived late Friday evening, I discovered the front door lock was broken, leaving the property completely unsecured. The lockbox for the key felt unsafe and untrustworthy. As a single woman, I immediately felt uneasy.The room itself was a disappointment. It was hot, smelly, and nothing like the photos in the listing, which I now suspect are stock images. The bathroom was tiny, and the kitchenette felt awkwardly placed. The entire setup was far from the “spa-like environment” advertised.When I contacted Sergio, the host, to request a refund, citing the broken lock, he admitted the lock was broken and claimed a part was on order. However, he never disclosed this upfront despite providing instructions for a front door code that clearly didn’t work. His response lacked any understanding of my concerns about safety, especially as a single woman. He also falsely claimed he couldn’t issue a refund, pushing the responsibility onto VRBO.After wasting hours on VRBO’s customer service, they declined my request for a refund despite the inaccurate listing and security issues. I ended up booking a hotel nearby for just 50 more per night, and it was worth every penny for peace of mind and comfort.Save yourself the hassle, skip this property, and avoid any listing hosted by Sergio.
