The Little Stone Cottage

You’ll love the charm of the bright and cheery Little Stone Cottage! Warm and welcoming, it’s the perfect getaway retreat for two, and can sleep up to four. Easy to get to on a well maintained paved road just 15 miles from Mt. Hood’s ski slopes, it’s an excellent home base for exploring the Mt. Hood Corridor and beyond!

With an open floor plan and exposed beam ceiling, you'll look forward to coming home after the day's adventures to relax in this cozy space. You'll enjoy all the conveniences of home, including an updated kitchen stocked with coffee, tea, kitchenware and basic supplies. The private queen-sized bedroom opens to a stylish tile bathroom with walk-in shower and laundry area. There is also a convenient pull-out couch with a comfy full-sized memory foam mattress. The home has a mini split for heating and cooling, high speed internet, a smart tv and a variety of games for at home entertainment. There is a privacy fenced area outside the cottage, with string lights and a clay fireplace for an outdoor fire. The Brightwood country market and tavern are just up the road, with a larger grocery store and great restaurant options minutes away in Welches.
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy hiking, biking and skiing year round. As Oregon’s tallest peak, Mt. Hood is home to three incredible and diverse ski resorts. Timberline Lodge and Ski Area is the only ski-in, ski-out lodge in the state, Mt. Hood Skibowl has the largest night skiing terrain in the US, and Mt. Hood Meadows offers more than 2,150 acres of skiing. Sandy Ridge Trailhead is 2 miles from the cottage and offers 17 miles of mountain bike trails. Wildwood Recreation Site is also nearby, as well as many other hiking trails, including some of the highest ranked hikes in Oregon!
**While we welcome dogs to the cottage, we do limit it to one dog per stay. It is very much appreciated when you do your best to wipe paws after being outdoors and keep furry family members off the furniture.

Mt Hood getaway

The cottage was clean and adorable. Super close to great hikes. Host put a lot of effort into a wonderful binder filled with great ideas for activities. Would recommended.

One thing...

The only thing I had an issue with is the shower. The directional H & C is a lie. I stood there for a few minutes thinking it was warming up and following the arrow on the handle. If you want scalding hot water turn it all the way to C. Other than that, it was a nice stay.

Great place!

We needed a place close to mountain for snowshoeing and tubing. 20 minutes to government camp. Close to several yummy restaurants and the wildwood recreation area. Place was clean and accomodating. I cooked several meals and kitchen was equiped. Bed is comfortable and the pullout bed was a plus. A very cozy cottage. Would definitely recommend to friends and family! We had a wonderful stay! The fenced yard was a nice surprise too!

Perfect for 2

We stayed two nights in Sept '24. Be sure you follow the host's directions and not your GPS to find this place. In the dark it is difficult to see from the road and our GPS led us to a very different location. The place was very clean, nice and warm and the kitchen and bath are both very spacious and nice.

Great Place in Mt Hood Area

Only stayed one night as part of 2 week hiking trip but it was a fantastic, cozy place for two of us. Separate bedroom with comfy bed, updated and spacious bathroom, homey living area w small updated kitchen (didn’t use). Communication was excellent. If there is a negative it would be the location is so close to the road, fences all around so added privacy but also not great for outdoor living. It was no problem for us because we just wanted to sleep there and wash clothes. Also didn’t hear any road noise at night even with bedroom door open. Great location to hiking trails and not far from Timberline Lodge. Would def recommend staying here.

Lovely little spot!

After a day exploring the Fruit Loop, the cottage was a great place to take it easy for the night. The house had everything we needed. The area is quiet, and it’s nice to be able to sit outside in the fresh air. Even though we live close by, this felt like a little getaway/staycation. We hope to stay again sometime!

Perfect Base Camp for Exploring Mt. Hood

The stone cottage was very clean and a perfect location to explore the surrounding area for the week. The kitchen was well stocked and the property was well maintained. Jenna was very easy to communicate with, and we will consider staying here again in the future!

Our stay at stone cottage

The Little Stone Cottage offered us an overall great stay at a location close to our planned hiking. It was easy to find right off the main highway, check in/out was easy and we loved the ability to do laundry and cook our meals! It was well stocked with the essentials. We booked this property based on reviews, and while we agree with most of them, we feel it’s worth mentioning the noticeable dampness and cobwebs/spiders throughout the house. We understand that the Pacific Northwest environment could be a contributor, but the house was quite musty and there were visible cobwebs with many spiders in multiple areas, as if the cottage had been shut up/not cleaned for some time. We feel badly writing anything negative because this was an otherwise perfect place for a couple night stay, but as one of us has an autoimmune condition, we felt it was important to share.

Sweet cottage

More than meets the eye! Everything we needed wrapped up in a newly renovated cozy cottage…which was perfect for me and my daughter! We are outdoor enthusiasts so we didn’t spend a lot of time hanging out…but the cottage was inviting if we wanted to 😇

Great cottage!

This place was perfect for a solo getaway! It’s small but mighty in it’s awesomeness! It’s unfortunate that it’s on a relatively busy road, but it’s so peaceful nonetheless. Thanks for a great stay and I’ll be back!

A little Gem!

The Little Stone Cottage was great! Exactly as pictured. Everything was sparkling clean and well stocked. Bed was so comfy and although the cottage is right on the road could not hear cars going by at all when in the bedroom. Very peaceful. Great kitchen for a small cottage so preparing meals is very easy. Perfect for a couple or family with a couple children. Pet friendly too!!!

Lovely cottage for a getaway!

The cottage was very welcoming, clean, and well equipped with everything thing you may need. The host was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. There was a great collection of information and ideas of things to do in the area. Great place to stay if you want to do some hiking not too far away. We would definitely recommend staying at the Stone Cottage!
