Most people fly into Loreto, rent a car and enjoy the scenic drive to Casa de Los Sueños. However we sailed into Bahia Concepcion and dropped our anchor right under Casa de Los Sueños! Many cruisers told us this was their favorite location in the Sea of Cortez and now it is our favorite too. We have enjoyed swimming with whale sharks (yes, right in our own cove for the past week!!!), snorkeling around the point and nearby beaches and islands, kayaking, fishing, spearfishing, night-snorkeling, clamming, SCUBA diving, hiking, and sightseeing around the nearby coves, historic Mulege and Santa Rosalia. You can fish right in the bay, or world-class day fishing trips can be arranged through the owners or managers, or through local fishing expert Chuy. We now have a freezer jam-packed with yellowtail! The spacious and beautiful villa (three levels) sleeps up to 16, and the cozy Casita is perfect for a couple. We were able to relax on the veranda, cold drink in hand, and keep an eye on our vessel that was safely anchored in the calm water beneath us. We also loved viewing the stars and constellations at night. Our friend told us he hasn’t seen such a star-filled sky since he was a boy in Montana. The owners have done a great job of including all the toys you could possibly want including a variety of kayaks, SUPs, snorkeling gear, fishing poles, etc. Both the main Villa and Casita have outdoor BBQs for grilling your fresh catch of the day. Carmen and Manuel can be available to help out and, for a very reasonable price, Carmen will be happy to cook traditional meals. We loved it so much we were lucky to be able to extend our stay and invite friends to join us. Casa de Los Sueños is perfect for an adventure vacation, for a meditative retreat, and everything in between. We intend to make this an annual pilgrimage, whether we cruise in or fly in.
Thank you Casa de Los Sueños! See you next year.
