Ready to escape to a tranquil, historic Appalachian farmstead with all the modern amenities? Book this 3 bedroom, 2 bath farmhouse and spend time enjoying the grounds, the jacuzzi, and the well-stocked trout stream across the road. Enjoy viewing the Milky Way in this dark skies area or just relax in one of our hammocks. Perfect for folks who want a peaceful getaway or enjoy hiking, biking or fishing (Grayson Highlands and the Virginia Creeper trail are 10-15 minutes away).
The farm is set on an 8 acre farm in a tranquil valley 10 minutes north of charming Lansing, NC and 1 mile south of the Virginia border. The house itself has three bedrooms and two bathrooms including two bedrooms upstairs with shared bath and one bedroom downstairs. In addition, there is a cozy sunroom with daybed that can accommodate an additional guest if needed.
The house is set back from the main road, providing privacy and tranquility. Since this is a working farm, the owner and farm helpers may be present tending the sheep, renovating one of the old outbuildings, or just mowing the lawn. Apart from that, the main house, the back garden with jacuzzi, and the porch area are yours exclusively.
We are at 3000 feet elevation and rely on mountain breezes and fans to keep cool in the summer. If you are extra sensitive to heat, please keep this in mind as there are a few days each year in June-August where the temperature can be higher than normal.
Guest access
You will have access to the main house minus the owner's room (which will be unoccupied and locked) and the basement unless you have asked for use of the basement prior to your stay. In addition to the house itself, there is a barn in the back of the property that guests can explore. We ask that folks just be aware that these are old buildings and to exercise caution when exploring them. The dairy barn, livestock barn, and RV area out front are private, so please respect the privacy of the folks staying in and using those areas.
Since this is a working farm, we also ask that folks not access fields currently occupied by livestock, but instead enjoy the animals from the other side of the fence. If you pass through a fence on the property please make sure the gate is closed securely behind you. We also expect that guests will not harass the animals and not bring other animals onto the farm due to potential interactions between pets and the livestock.
