My husband and I came to Tryon hoping to relax by the pool and explore downtown, which was advertised as a short walk away. We expected businesses to be open, but didn’t realize most of the town shuts down during the week. It also rained for much of our stay.Lavender Hill has a lovely tucked-away feel, a cute hotel-style setup with a small fridge and microwave, and beautiful artwork throughout. However, the outdoor space was disappointing. Nearly all of the seating had fabric cushions that were soaked from the rain, so even after it stopped there was nowhere comfortable to sit. The outdoor furniture is older wrought iron with cushions and pads that stay wet and become very hot in the sun. There were no water-friendly lounge chairs, which was surprising for a property that charges a premium for pool access. The pool itself is beautiful—clean, cool, private, and surrounded by trees. The hosts were kind and responsive. However, during our stay Spectrum arrived with multiple trucks to install a new internet system that, we later learned, had been scheduled for the previous week. We weren’t aware this work would be taking place until the host knocked to let us know a technician would need access to our room to install a new router. Between the noise outside and needing to coordinate entry into the room, it interrupted what we had hoped would be a quiet, relaxing stay.Overall, it’s a nice place, but we wouldn’t travel to Tryon again.
