Beautiful architecture. Excellent kind host. Nice plentiful towels. Extra touches, shampoos, lotions. Well stocked kitchen. Very dirty: many dead bugs, spiderwebs covering windows, walls, scorpions that we had to stomp & stung a pet leading to serious injury. Uncomfortable worn, lumpy mattresses. Cigarette odor (1bd).

Easter getaway

This property was amazing. When they say fully stocked they werent kidding. Coffee maker. Tons of silverware, plates, cups, wine glasses, shot glasses, measuring spoons and cups, knives, towels, etc. Property owner was very friendly. Read previous reviews of uncomfortable beds and couches and this was not the case. Couches were great even had throw blankets on them. Only thing to make the stay better would be the water levels for the lake to be up. But out of anybodys control and was mentioned to us by the owner so we left boat and jetskis home. We could have driven half a mile for lake boat ramp access but when we got there we didnt want to leave. Pictures does not show how big the cabin really is. When we arrived we were surprised how much open space was available. Also had a cool spot to have some drinks and bbq about a 5 minute walk from the property. Would definitely recommend staying here as we will visit back in the future.

Wonderful place to stay!

This is our second time to stay at this property and we enjoyed everything about it. Even with the lake levels down, we had a wonderful time and my kids are already wanting to go back!

Shortfalls of a potentially great vacation venue

The owner was not entirely up front with the lake level issue; he failed to mention that the lake was 30% down from normal pool and that "waterfront/mud front" access was 1/8th mile away on the exposed lake bottom (while on-line photos still depict lake water in the cove no more than 100 feet from the front door step). Swimming in the lake was virtually impossible. He also failed to send me pictures (worth 1000 words) reflecting this issue even though he said he would. We understand that he has no control over the lake level or the weather; however, a more forthright response would have been appreciated. The "queen-size" bedding in each of the four (4) bedrooms downstairs was deplorable; it is way beyond anything remotely comfortable and should be replaced. The bed frames had no head or foot boards, would not remain in place, and would move across the floor during the night. None of the six (6) adults in my party got a single decent night's sleep. The furniture suffers from the same malady........overstuffed couches with little stuffing left. The two (2) restrooms have no ventilation and no means to acquire it. Normal use made for sweaty conditions before one could finish drying off after a shower. I have no doubt that our experience would have been much better had we not had to deal with extremely low lake water levels and extreme heat, again not the owner's fault. However, even if the lake was back to normal and the weather was warm and balmy, the other deficiencies would still remain. Even the owner's addition of a nice laundry room was diminished by the fact that it is attached to the owner's residence, not the lodge (approximately 200 feet away). Unfortunately for us, this is one vacation destination that we won't soon forget and for all the wrong reasons. The owner's cordial nature, and the great potential that the venue still holds, was overshadowed by circumstances and conditions that the owner could/should address.

Nice get away!

Our family had a very relaxing time at the lake cabin. Everything we needed at the home was there and allowed us to enjoy our time together. Though temperatures were extreme, the porch was a perfect place for us to relax and enjoy.

Family reunion

This place is lovely, but does not accommodate 16. We booked when web site said 20 then it was changed to 16 persons by owner. Accommodates 8 persons easily but not 20 persons, not 16 persons not 12. persons The lofts are not accessible safely due to straight up 90 degree ladders. Mattresses were terrible. Wont stay here again.

Perfect Getaway To Relax

Property is a great place to relax and enjoy the quiet. Very serene and lovely. We stayed during winter month so weren’t able to enjoy the water but it was perfect for what we were looking for. This place would be a blast during summer months. Owner was very welcoming and went out of his way to lay deer corn so the children can see them up close. Overall a great place for a retreat. Definitely recommend.

This property was incredible!!! The family and friends all LOVED it, especially the kids!!! Incredible lake front home with beach like lake. The kids spent all day in the water, plus there was kayaks and paddleboards on property for rental!!! Owner was incredibly helpful and courteous!!! The home was also very unique and provided tons of room for all the guests. The kids also loved the large acreage property to run around and also played lots in the playscape. Highly recommended!!!

Cozy, quiet, and fun

We were first welcomed onto the property by the sight of cows and deer. Once you drive up to the lodge you get a nice view of the lake. We made sure to borrow some of the provided life vests, kayaks and canoes to enjoy some fun time on the water. Dave made sure to stop by and check in to make sure we were situated and found everything we needed. We enjoyed a night of stargazing thanks to the clear night sky, and got to enjoy some quiet time away from the city.

Perfect relaxing vacation

Beautiful views and excellent area to let kids use kayaks and paddle boards. Just enough luxury to be comfortable while still enjoying nature. Large enough for 3 families and kids loved loft area!

Family Retreat

This was a really fun place for our first big family get together. The property is beautiful and the lake access is immaculate. The house is awesome and my kids loved the loft spaces. For sleeping such a big group, we needed a bigger table or more chairs to play board games at night! We did have zero wfi the entire trip (yes, it was fine to unplug, but also, the only way I was able to come was the promise of sending some work emails while I was away - so I had to go into town for this). There are also several charges not included in the VRBO price. I was told this is normal, but have never experienced this before, so want others to be aware. Overall, we had a great trip and I look forward to many more!

great getaway for family gatherings

the property was very beautiful and private. Everything we needed was available to us. Enjoyed the closeness of the lake to the cabin, the play area for the little ones, the wildlife and the accommodations. It was perfect. Could have used a little more communication on where the washer/dryers were and where the oars/lifevests were, other than that they provided everything we needed and the place was beautiful.

Lewis Family Vaca Summer 2021

The property is stunning! Accommodations were clean, comfortable and the kitchen had just about everything we needed. You can walk right down to the lake and walk in using the boat ramp. Clean lake. We saw many deer, birds, and hummers on a daily basis. Our adult kids enjoyed the fire pit. Host was gracious and friendly. The Lodge pup, Buffalo, was just about the cutest thing ever. We will be back!

Great place to see old friends

Thank you so much for such a great stay! The Lodge was a great place to reunite with friends and spend time on the lake. Dave was so helpful throughout our stay. He lives on the property next door, so he checked in with us every day to make sure everything was going well. He even helped us navigate the pontoon boat we rented up to his dock. All 20 of us enjoyed our stay and would come again!

Barn living at it's finest

Incredible place for our family! Really enjoyed the opportunity to learn some of the history behind the construction of the barn and where it came from. Made us appreciate it even more. The owners are very easy to work with and they communicated well. They made it very easy for our family to rest, relax, laugh, and be us. Very kid friendly rental.

Great weekend getawat with friends and family

After such an odd year dealing with the pandemic, this was the perfect spot to relax by the lake, bbq with friends and family, and stay in quite a charming cabin with historic and character. The beds are comfortable, showers are hot, the kitchen is well stocked, and the front porch is perfect for morning coffee as the sun rises. I appreciated that it was dog friendly as well- My dog could not have had more fun. She slept for 3 days straight after we left! The owner provided fire wood for campfire and for grilling. He was very accommodating and friendly. He does live next door which was a little unexpected to have him popping in but it was no problem for us just out to enjoy the sunshine and socialize a bit. The loft access via ladders is a bit intimidating for adults and children but it’s so helpful that there are so many beds available. The four queen beds downstairs worked out perfectly for our 4 sets of couples. Would definitely stay here again!

Spring break on Lake Buchanan

The property provided a great environment for both relaxing and exploring. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and swimming, during the day and campfires and deer watching in the evenings.
