Wonderful cottage!

This was the perfect location and Joe was a great host. He gave us so much information on what to do and see. The ocean was in our front yard. Close to the Cabot trail, close to very good restaurants. The cottage has everything we could possibly need. We would highly recommend it!

Beautiful Beach House

The Beach House is a beautiful place to relax and unwind. It had everything one needed plus a beautiful beach right across the Street. I would highly recommend this place.

Fabulous vacation home in Cape Breton

This is truly a very special location on the island and a wonderful summer home! The Vissers have made every aspect of the cottage and our stay perfect! Very well stocked, super comfortable beds and linens and the most amazing front porch you can imagine. A great base to travel the island and a beautiful place to watch the sunset every night!!

Perfection

A home by the ocean with everything you need! Plenty of space for our little friend group together, eat food and go to the beach. The giant porch and outdoor shower are an added bonus. And you can't beat the seaside view. We will be back:)

The cottage is beyond amazing!

We had an incredible week! Joe and Lucy are kind and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect for your stay! It has EVERYTHING you need and more. The location is unreal...right in front of the ocean! We are renting next year for sure! Thank you again Joe!

Simply the best!

We have long wanted to stay at Joe V's property and finally had the opportunity to do so in August of 2023. We were totally satisfied with our stay! Not only is the location perfect but the house is well appointed and well looked after. In addition, the property has everything you need for your stay including many items not found in other rentals - paper towels, Kleenex, laundry detergent, beach towels, beach chairs and toys. Highest recommendation for this property! Thanks very much, Joe.

Beautiful place, great host

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the beautiful summer cottage. The cottage was very clean, well maintained, with everything you need plus. The cottage is just across the road from a beautiful beach. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets. Joe is a great host, and so accommodating. He made sure we had everything we needed. Perfection in Port Hood

This was our first time traveling to Cape Breton and I really had no context for where to stay or what it would be like. Our host, Joe, was exactly the host we needed for this trip. He offered practical suggestions for activities, basic needs like a grocery store, some directions, and some tips for around Port Hood. The house itself was clean and cozy. It felt like a real family home rather than a plastic, just-for-show vacation rental. We spent hours on the front porch watching the water and boat traffic, and it was our place to be at every sunset during our stay. I also highly recommend the outdoor shower, which was a very fun feature! All of the beds were comfy and the kitchen was well-stocked with necessary tools and cookware. It felt like we were true guests to both the town of Port Hood and the house, and everyone treated us very kindly. Highly recommend this house for anyone!

Family Get Together

We wanted a chance for the family to have an adventure together and have some special time with grandkids. The beach was great even if it was too early in the season for swimming. The beach was so close by it was great for the kids. The whole area was a great for exploring and within short driving distances. Another big bonus was the proximity of the Celtic Coastal Trail. We could hop on our bikes and cycle right to the trail right from the cottage and have a hundred km of cycling rail-trail available. The cottage itself was fantastic, well appointed, with everything one might need to have an enjoyable stay, and did I mention it is less than a 100 yards from a lovely sand beach, and sandy well out into the water (great for younger children) and a very protected area with regards to waves. In short we loved the place.

Awesome Cape Breton Cottage

We could not have had a better time at the Vissers' cottage in lovely Port Hood. In fact, the description did not do it justice. Our extended family of eight had absolutely everything we needed for a great vacation; from comfortable beds to ample kitchen supplies to the nice convenient outside shower. Here are just some of the highlights: * great beach days on the beach ... right across the road! * kayaking to Port Hood Island * hiking to the lookout in Mabou Mines * dinner and terrific music at the Red Shoe * long runs on the amazing nearby rail trails * late dinners on the deck watching the sunsets and lobster boats * fireworks from the pier on Canada Day * a day trip to whale watch in Cheticamp with a stop to tour the Glenora distillery * sighting of multiple eagles and a large black bear around Mabou * games played around the big table in the evenings We would all (four adults and four teens) highly recommend this cottage for any family/group looking for an amazing place to stay in Nova Scotia.

Fantastic Place with Unbeatable Location

We loved our stay the beach house in Port Hood! It was such an amazing place that was so clean and quaint. The view of the beach out the windows and off the porch was incredible. There is a beautiful beach only steps away from the property that we enjoyed exploring. The house had everything we needed and worked great for our family of four. We would stay at the beach house again in a heartbeat as we loved it and everything Cape Breton had to offer. Thanks for the great stay Joe!

Great place for multiple couples and kids.

Great place on the beach and the sunsets were wonderful too. The bedrooms are set up so that 2 couples with 2 kids and another solo couple all will have a comfortable sleep. Has everything you need for your stay. Would come back in a heartbeat!

Family Vacay

Joe was a great host, super helpful and accommodating. Went out of his way to inform us about the area and things to do. House was well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. Very clean and just a great location! Even the locals had only good things to say about Joe, extremely friendly neighborhood. Our family of 7 had a blast and would definitely consider renting here again.

Stay in Port Hood

We cannot say enough about our stay at Joe’s summer house. He was so helpful giving us suggestions on where to visit during our stay. The house is literally across from the beach and we were able to enjoy the views from the porch. Everything you need is there. I would highly recommend this place.

Labour Day in Port Hood

Although the weather didn’t cooperate for our weekend at the beach we still had a blast. Multiple beaches around we were able to search for sea glass and found lots of creatures in the tidal pools to entertain the 8 year old. The cottage was equipped with lots of games and rainy day activities. The Farmers Market in Mabou was big excitement for our Sunday as well as dinner at the Red Shoe Pub
