Exceeded our expectations. Thrilled to share what a gem this place was, though (honestly) with a bit of hesitation only from a concern it will become too popular and difficult to reserve next time. The pictures of the property do not oversell, it is a beautiful villa. With spectacular views looking down over the Tuscan valley. Everyone morning we all marveled at waking up to that view.
We were two couples (friends) staying for the week. The house was more than roomy enough that we never felt on top of each other. The spacious bedrooms were on opposite sides of the villa. Could have easily accommodated another couple in the third bedroom. Though the third bedroom has its own full bath that bathroom is accessed from the hallway, right in front of the door to the other bedroom. Minor inconvenience.
They did a terrific job of renovating this historic farmhouse villa, with just enough modern touches. Bathrooms, kitchen, AC/ heat, wifi, laundry all worked well.
The host family lives on the property, though far enough separated that you do not see heir house from the villa. You do walk/ drive by their house on the way to the villa, but even then there is a separate gate/ driveway for the villa you can use that does make it feel like you are fully isolated - if that is what you want.
Luigi was very responsive and accessible. The day we arrived he called to offer to meet us in town to guide the villa. He then gave us a full walk through of the villa explaining how everything worked. My only suggestion to Luigi is to create a written instruction book to leave in the house as my jet-lagged brain did not retain everything from the walk through. Though any question I texted to Luigi was promptly answered, even by him running up to the villa to show us personally.
The Cortona location could not have worked out better for our week of touring Tuscany. The town itself is a delight to explore. A very rich history. No shortage of restaurants, shops, etc... and Luigi was very helpful in recommending some of his favorites. Best of all, it is not overly crowded with tourists like some of the more tourist-popular cities.... e.g., Sienna, Montepulciano, etc... The center of Cortona is just a short walk from the villa, very convenient. Though the uphill walk back to the villa after dinner and wine was sometimes a bit of a challenge :).
Luigi, Nicoletta and Giuseppe are wonderful people who we enjoyed getting to know. Grazie mille!
