This lovely Highlands home is out in the woods in a quiet neighborhood yet only 6 minutes to town. A short walk (1/4 mile) from the Ranger Falls trailhead gets you to a waterfall each morning if you're up for it. The home is well equipped with three bedrooms, two full baths and a cozy living room with fireplace. With natural wood walls, beamed ceilings, large yard and views of the tree filled property you'll feel a part of nature each day. There is a large open deck and a covered porch out back plus a front screen porch so there is plenty of opportunity for fresh air relaxation. Have dinner outdoors or, if you have to work, take your laptop out to the high top table and listen to the birds while you type. The wi-fi is reliable as is cell signal. There are streaming services for the televisions in each room, plenty of books to read and an old-time CD player for a little throwback music.
The primary bedroom with king bed is on the main floor with one full bath along with the living room with fireplace, updated kitchen and access to the outdoor porches. Downstairs are the other two bedrooms, one with two queen beds and the other with two twins, a full bath and laundry room. The twin bed room has a sofa and gaming TV (no consoles provided) and a walk-out to the back yard with steps down to the grass to throw a football or play cornhole (provided).
You will arrive to find starter necessities like toilet paper and paper towels but we do not provide extra or shower soap, shampoo or laundry soap. We've tried this in the past but guests use up what is there and then don't replace it. We apologize for any inconvenience in this regard. Inventory is done after each guest. Any damage or missing items will be charged to the guest.
You'll love Highlands with it's wine and food culture and outdoor enjoyment. The village has cute home and clothing boutiques, gift stores, places to eat or grab a drink, a deli or two, ice cream shops and places to people watch. Nearby to town is a butcher shop and another grocery. A larger Ingles is in Cashiers. Get out on Lake Glenville to enjoy the cool and freshest water, waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Highlands is at 4,118 ft. above sea level. There are dozens of amazing hiking trails in the immediate area. Temperatures usually are lower than many places in the country in the summer and winters are usually mild. The town has activities all year including the famous Food & Wine festival in the late fall, holiday lightings and parade and all sorts of music and fairs throughout the year.
Accessibility and stairs: There are three steps down to the front door. The rest of the property can be utilized without stairs except for the laundry room. Families with young children and those unsteady on their feet, please take precautions with stairs. Use at your own risk. There are four exterior cameras, which are deactivated upon check-in. There are no interior cameras.
