Unfortunately, we needed roadside assistance on the way from Dublin to Ballyvaughan. Therefore, we arrived later at the cottage than expected and did not meet the manager when we arrived. We only spoke in the morning and evening on the phone. We felt a bit bad when we learned after our arrival that our sent messages with updates about our situation were not received, so calling her in case of an emergency might be better. Check-in, however, went smoothly. Mr. Considine sent a very detailed email with directions and a lot of information about the cottage and Ballyvaughan beforehand, so we were prepared well ahead.
The cottage itself is small but cozy and beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable and everything is clean. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for a weeklong stay, and you have a washer and dryer in the shed.
And the view! You have a gorgeous view of Galway Bay, and you can sit in the beautiful front yard and enjoy the ever-changing scenery. It is only a short walk into town where you find several restaurants, pubs, cafés, and a small grocery store.
The location of the cottage is fantastic to do some hikes, and the drive along the coastal road is spectacular! Besides relaxing, we visited Doolin, took a ferry to the Aran Islands, walked along the Cliffs of Moher, visited Galway, Kilmore Abbey, Connemara National Park, and the Burren. We enjoyed our stay very much in this lovely place. Highly recommended!
