Excellent Stay in Montclair

We had a great weekend at this lovely home. We visited with family and everything we needed was very close by. This home was an enjoyable place to rest. The kitchen was supplied well enough for our needs and we slept so well. The neighborhood was quiet and very friendly. Thank you for making this home available to us.

While the apartment is lovely in many ways, there were a few significant problems to note.  The heat was off when we got there. In addition, when we walked in, we smelled a very foul odor (like an old-age home).  We opened all the windows (despite it being 30 degrees and already no heat), which helped somewhat.  When I texted the owner about the bad smell (it lingered our entire stay), the owner responded, “smell in my rental?  What are you talking about?  I did a walk-through a few hours before your arrival.”  The owner then came by insisted there was no smell and that we were imagining it, and refused to do anything. 
The heating situation was a challenge - very hot on the top floor and cold in parts of the main floor.  Only one thermostat made it impossible to regulate evenly.

The home was very clean but a few issues that should be addressed to improve the listing. First the heating situation was very challenging. The difference between the lower and upper floors was significant and made the stay very uncomfortable for sleeping (way too warm upstairs and cold downstairs). Secondly, the parking situation was unacceptable. Very difficult to find a spot on the street and it was not clearly communicated that they only provided a parking permit for 1 car. In the end it resulted in an additional charge of 30.00 for a second car for a parking permit. There was also no kitchen table for eating and there seemed to me there was adequate space for one, because the bar in the corner of the living room was really difficult to eat at and would not be able to accommodate more than two people. I will say the host was very attentive and responded to our inquiries through out our stay very promptly.

This beautiful home is is close to transportation. it's 3-5 mins walk from Bay Street Train station and 17 minutes drive from Newark International Airport

It's also located strategically and close to everything; Airport, train station and buses. Montclair also boasts of good schools and some of the best 5 star restaurants around.
