While new sheets and a cleaning products were dropped off at the front door, I wasn’t pleased to check into a cabin with dirty and yellow stained sheets, hot tub that hadn’t been properly maintained/cleaned, cooking pans, utensils, plates, silverware etc all with old and caked on food from previous visitors. We were expected to take care of the cleaning ourselves versus just checking into a clean cabin. We didn’t come on vacation to clean. It was bothersome that the host was annoyed when we called after several messages went unanswered. I understand things happen, new cleaning crews, etc., but we never asked for anything other than clean sheets and a chlorine tablet for the hot tub. Yes those things were dropped off, tho the bedding delivered wasn’t even the right size for one of the mattresses, but it was the fact we seemed to offend or bother the host that we asked for clean items. Again, we understand things happen and didn’t want to make an issue, but it immediately felt off when the host was defensive instead of understanding and wanting to make things right. It should be noted that my entire family didn’t even sleep in the sheets our first night. We took blankets we had from the car and slept on those instead. At no point did we ask for financial compensation, we just wanted a clean bed to sleep in. Interestingly enough, on check out we are told not to strip the beds. I delayed writing a comment to avoid conflict but in the end I felt I needed to write something.
