Traditional trullo with swimming pool

We have named Trullo Leonora after our youngest daughter, Leonora, who was three years old when our passion for exploring this breathtaking and magical Italian region began. Trullo Leonora is a beautifully renovated Pugliese haven rooted in tradition. This mid 18th century Trullo and the adjacent Lamia/Farmhouse has been lovingly restored to create an authentic home away from home set amongst a hectare of olive groves, fruit trees and landscaped gardens which is located down a country lane, but only 10 minutes drive from the charming hill towns of Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica and 5 minutes away from the tiny town of San Michele Salentino where all local amenities are at hand including 2 supermarkets, banks, petrol station, cafes and three fabulous restaurants that we highly recommend.

The property accommodates up to 8 people comfortably in a traditional trullo and farmhouse/ lamia with two gazebos, an outdoor barbecue/kitchen area, solar outdoor shower and swimming pool with 8 loungers.

TRULLO
The centre piece of the property is a stunning 250-year-old trullo with its 7 white conical roofs. Meticulously restored to UNESCO standards, the trullo has been brought back to life respecting the beauty of the architecture as a modern and comfortable holiday home with arched stone walls and vaulted ceilings. Two independent suites each have their own entrance. The larger suite features 2 double bedrooms, living room alcove, and shower room. The second suite has a double bedroom, dressing area, and ensuite shower room. All rooms have mosquito blinds.


LAMIA/FARMHOUSE
Adjacent to and just steps away from the trullo is the traditional Pugliese farmhouse, or lamia, featuring: Fully equipped kitchen with modern SMEG appliances, dishwasher, a large double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and en-suite shower room, a second shower room with washing machine and a spacious living room with a sofa that has a single bed mattress, a smart TV andr robust Wi-FI covering the whole property, fast, modern hot water boilers and full air conditioning. All rooms in the property have mosquito blinds.


GAZEBO 1
Across the terrace facing the lamia is a large gazebo with a big static stone table perfect for sheltered, al fresco dining. We can recommend an excellent local chef to cook for you on site. The table seats 8-10 comfortably.


GAZEBO 2
Located by the pool to the left of the Lamia is a gazebo where you can relax with an aperitivo as you enjoy the sunset, or just relax in ths cosy shaded corner by the pool and still socialise with those in the sunshine on their loungers. Just behind this gazebo is an outdoor kitchen with running water, barbecue, and outdoor fridge for wine and drinks.


POOL
The 4x10-meter swimming pool is professionally cleaned and managed throughout the season twice weekly. The pool area easily accommodates 8 loungers, with a solar-heated outdoor shower for before and after bathing.


PROPERTY
The whole property is gated with a monitored security system. A remote-controlled gate leads up the gravel driveway to a large parking area, including covered parking for 2 cars. The garden and orchard include olive, almond, orange, lemon, fig, pomegranate, and plum trees with sage, bay, and rosemary bushes for cooking.

LOCAL AREA
For restaurants and supermarkets, the nearby town of San Michele is just a few minutes’ drive. Should you want to go further afield there are a wide selection of supermarkets in Ostuni just 10 minutes drive away and a Lidl and Familia supermarket 15 minutes away in San Vito del Normanni .

Our nearest beautiful hill towns are Ostuni “the White City” and Ceglie Messapica, the home of the slow food movement in Puglia. Weekly outdoor food markets are a short drive away at various hill towns with all the best local produce — from fruits and vegetables to fresh pasta, cheese, and sausage. Restaurants cater to locals and tourists alike with elaborate antipasti, authentic local delicacies, and Pugliese wines that are tasty and well-priced. The Adriatic coast - beach is 25 minutes drive away and the Ionian shore is around 40 minutes away. Within 30 minutes, you’ll reach charming historic towns like Cisternino, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, and Alberobello. A hidden gem is Grottaglie, the pottery centre of the south.
