Argh, I hate leaving negative reviews... I really do.
We are a family of 4, mom, dad, 3 year old and 8 month old. It became frustrating to logistically live in the space while kids napped. We tried every which way! I should have known better, but we took a chance last minute and the space was simply too small for us. The top floor bedroom is a loft like space, small with slanted ceilings that is open to the living area below. There is a bedroom downstairs with two twin beds, one of which was broken and if you sat on the edge it flipped over. Be careful! All of the beds were uncomfortable.
We were not able to drop in kayaks in marsh as the water was always too low.
There were plenty of dishes, glassware, etc, but after your first meal the ants really came out in droves. The water had a certain smell and was brown which concerned me. We never drank it but I didn't even cook with it. The house was extremely dusty and we all couldn't stop sneezing from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. I placed some shopping bags on a higher surface and a pile of dust came crashing down. There are also many spiders, prepare to get bit a couple of times. (I obviously understand this is not the owners fault!) The house needs a little love, and at this price point we probably won't return but kick in a little more for a larger, more updated space when we return to Wellfleet next year. It's fine for two people in my opinion. The cottage to the left of this place appeared much better taken care of and at the same price point.
The location was fine (if maybe a little close to 6, are able to hear the traffic), you are right near the rail trail and many beaches and town center after a short drive. Newcombe Hollow, Duck Harbor, Powers landing and Gull Pond were the ones we visited on this visit to Wellfleet.
Sorry for the negative-ish review (but if you are like me, these are the things I wish i'd known before we spent the money) :(
