Peaceful Villa w/Pool, Terrace, View & Work Space
This is a three-bedroom family house, with pool and large outdoor spaces, which we’ve turned into a creative and co-working hub. We converted one room into an office and filming studio, and the villa has many places to relax and focus.
We are two long-term travelers, who live in Bali most of the year. And this is our home. Everything is set up so you feel comfortable, relax, and get some deep creative work done. Looking forward to receiving you here!
***
The area where our villa is located is known as Babakan. Most locals understand where it is, and most tourists don’t, which suits us just fine!
We’re about 8-10 minute’s motorbike drive to the local beaches. Morning drives are blissful. Late afternoons are a bit busier, traffic-wise.
From our house, simply turn right out of the alley and head down the main road for about three or four minutes. You’ll get to a set of traffic lights. Go straight over to head to Batu Bolong (and the heart of Canggu). Left takes you towards Berawa, Umalas, and, eventually, Seminyak and Batu Belig. Right takes you towards Batu Mejan, Echo Beach, Pererenan, Munggu, Seseh and beyond.
If you turn left out of our alley, you start the trip to Ubud. We bought this villa because we wanted to be close to the beach area, but also access to the culture of Ubud which, on a good day, is about a 40-minute drive.
The local Babakan area is quiet, and if you see any cafés or restaurants on the road, most of these will have opened just in the last 12 months or so.
If you turn right out of our alleyway onto the main road, and take the first right when you come to a curve in the road, you’ll step into a small village. This is a nice area for walking or cycling, particularly early morning or sunset. There are a couple of cafe/restaurants here, too.
Sometimes you will see the main roads blocked for an hour or two while a procession passes, full of monsters, and a couple of hundred locals dressed in white. If you want traditional Balinese museums, dance, spirituality or art, best head to Ubud, or to some of the island’s holy places. Interestingly, the village where our villa is located is one of the island’s few Catholic enclaves. So you’ll see a cathedral if you turn left out of our alley, and our neighbors all celebrate Christmas.
Getting around
We have parking space for a large car, or up to about 10 motorbikes.
Renting a motorbike is recommended, so you can access everything the area has to offer. Or, if you want to book a motorbike or car taxi, they will arrive at the house in 5-10 minutes via the Go-Jek app.
Keen cyclists can enjoy a nice 15-minute ride down to the Canggu beaches.
