My wife, and two (more or less) adult children spent ten nights in this property. We were a bit nervous, having not used VRBO before, but the photos of the property were lovely, so we had high hopes.
We were not disappointed in the least! The home was beautiful, and if you’re looking for a non touristy, colonial feeling part of the city, with narrow, clean streets, in walking distance of the Malacon and innumerable small eateries and shops, this is a wonderful choice.
We were there in early June, hot and humid, but the small private pool in the walled courtyard was a perfect solution to a steamy walk. The AC was cold and needed, but only available in the bedrooms. At first this concerned me, but we found the air passing through the living room was usually enough, and the pool was our refuge if it was particularly hot.
The Centro Histórico area in which this home is located, is undergoing a gentrification with much help from the local government. Police presence was frequent, but even walking late at night through narrow streets, I never felt unsafe. There are literally dozens of boutique shops and small eateries in a wide range of prices within a ten minute walk.
If you want an experience where you order your drinks poolside and can order tours from the concierge (nothing wrong with that), then this isn't the place for you. But if you want to relax in a quiet, elegant property surrounded by colonial Spanish streets just a few minutes from the sea wall, this is a wonderful choice, and well worth it for a small group or family.
