The house really delivered. We have rented beachhouse in Florida, Alabama and Texas and this was the absolute cleanest house we have rented. The beds were comfy and we had everything we needed for a great vacation.

There was plenty of sleeping room with the 4 bedrooms. Kitchen & bathrooms seemed newly remodeled. Everything needed for preparing meals was available as well The location was perfect - quiet area of the Outerbanks and right close to beach through a path & over the dune.

Duplex disappointment

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Very surprised to find out upon arrival that this property is a duplex. Nothing on the website stated that the property is a duplex. I have been renting with Carolina Shores for more than 6 years and have searched rentals for years. Non-single homes are always noted in the description & with red outlining of non-single properties. We could hear renters in attached unit snoring. Property needs more dishwear-glasses, plates, etc.

Great House!

The property itself was perfect. The house was great and clean. Plenty of room for our ten people! The sand dunes were a little hard for the older grandmas to get over but other than that everything was great. My only complaint is with the check in process. We were paid in full before we arrived. The rental office is past the property which is fine but it added an entire hour to our journey. I would have preferred to receive the code for the door through text or phone call and have the welcome packet available at the property. It seemed silly to me to not offer a way to get the code without going to the office.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful week the Byrd's Nest. I really felt at home there. The house is well maintained, very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed. It has a great location. I loved listening to surf at night and watching the sun rise. A great place to relax and rejuvenate. My only disappointment was the week went too fast - I'm think 2 weeks next year and learning to surf. Nags Head was bit too conservative with the red flags. I was grateful for easy access to Pea, Hatteras & Ocracoke Islands. The management company was great - very helpful with scheduling, checking in & out. I highly recommend the OBX Brewing Station and Hatteras Sol Waterside Grill. The Ocracoke beaches are well worth the drive and ferry ride. September is awesome at OBX - never got too hot and water is still warm. Every trip to OBX seems to get better and better. I'm super happy that I found this home and would definitely stay there again.

First timers to OBX

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Byrd's Nest property is conveniently located in Nag's Head off the beaten track with a short walk to the beach over the dunes. It is spacious with more than enough room for our six. The decks are amazing with gorgeous views of sunrise and sunset. Sheets are provided on all the beds and a single towel for each person provided though they are threadbare. Be sure to take your own beach towels, beach chairs. There is an older model cart available to get things down to the beach. The kitchen has nearly every pan, pot, plate, utensil you can think of. There are no spices of any kind including salt/pepper. Also there is no dish soap or hand soap at any bathroom sink. Take toilet paper as well. The realty company provides a single roll of TP and paper towels when you check in. The space and location are primo!

1st trip to OBX/1st vacation rental

I hand wrote a review for the real estate company and owner in a guest book they leave at the house. We absolutely loved the house and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation trip and rental. I wish that I could have stayed there longer. Would definitely recommend the house called "The Byrd's Nest". Safe travels everyone!!

Great house!

Was a great place to stay! The house is very nice and great views of the ocean. Not as many options for the teenagers to go explore shops etc as the heart of nags head but we enjoyed it very much!

Duplex in good location

Property description did not identify this as a duplex. We had quiet, friendly neighbors, so it was not a problem. Short walk to the beach, but the boardwalk to the beach appears to have been partly covered by sand dunes. Defective Keurig is still there, but there is also a Mr. Coffee. Cleanliness was okay, but shower curtain liners need replaced due to mildew and floors under beds and furniture had obviously not been cleaned (hair, dust, food and a large dog bone found underneath). Fridge water filter also needs replaced.

Family vacation

Great family vacation. House was big enough for our large family and was great to bring our dogs. Location was perfect. Wish we could get early checkin and keurig coffee machine was tricky to use - might be missing a piece that punctures the bottom of the cups. We would definitely rent again.

Beautiful Vacation Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 5th year coming to Nagshead. We love the area. This was the 1st year at the Byrd's Nest and this house is great. The set-up inside is perfect, it was extremely clean and the view is off the charts! We enjoyed spending time on the back deck. It's very close to restaurants, Manteo for shopping and the aquarium. We brought our 10 month old granddaughter and she loved it. As much as we loved our stay, we thought a pool and a walkway over the Dunes would make this even better.

The check in process was very difficult. The location for check in was a 50 min drive past the house. Since it is a code, Why not leave the welcome packet in the house and email/ text the code at time of check in? I also was not aware that the house is a duplex.

July 2021 Byrds Nest

The home was clean and well appointed. Everyone did complain a little about the mattresses being a bit worn, and the Keurig was missing a part. The view was beautiful and the decks were a great compliment to the house. I do wish the listing made it clear this was a duplex. The other side was rented at the time, and while there were no issues, just knowing we were sharing a driveway and parking would have been preferred. The home is close enough to dining and shopping for convenience but you still feel like you’re far away from the hustle and bustle of the main roads. The rental company was great during check in, however when I called for a maintenance issue, (a board was missing from the boardwalk, with nails exposed) the issue was not resolved. At check out, there was confusion about the rented linens and towels, the paperwork within the home said one thing, the paperwork at check in said another, and the woman I spoke with at the rental company said another thing. We chose to use the advice of the woman we spoke to at the office.

Inaccurate listing

The amenities listed by VRBo were inaccurate. No mention of the entry being 2 flights up. Not enough living area for 8 adults and it’s listed as equipped for 12 guests. Only superficial cleaning.

Rental confusion

I’ve stayed in many of those and every single one had everything we needed. This house, however, seems to function more as a regulars Beach rental. I feel it is misleading to list under Vrbo and then not provide dish towels, bath soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, basic spices/cooing things oils etc. what’s worse is they your description SAYS that toilet paper and paper towels are provided. One roll of tp at check in is not “provided”. When linens are provided, how do you provide no dish towels?These things made for a disappointing first day and required us to buy things we had not anticipated. It thus is going to be listed at a Vrbo these things should be fixed. I’m going to contact VRBO to tell them they this listing is giving them a bad name

I feel it is misleading to list under Vrbo and then not provide dish towels, bath soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, basic spices/cooing things oils etc. what’s worse is they your description SAYS that toilet paper and paper towels are provided. One roll of tp at check in is not “provided”. When linens are provided, how do you provide no dish towels?These things made for a disappointing first day and required us to buy things we had not anticipated. It thus is going to be listed at a Vrbo these things should be fixed. I’m going to contact VRBO to tell them they this listing is giving them a bad name

Beach Trip

Loved the location right on the ocean! The house was well stocked with anything that you might need except toiletries. I would recommend this house for families or friends looking to spend time on the beach.

Our family vacation at Byrd's Nest

The house and location were perfect for our needs, and met every expectation. Just a note for the property manager to update the info package for the property - 1. the WiFi password provided to us was incorrect. We found the the correct one posted on a wall at the house. 2. We were instructed to leave the house key in the Drop Box upon departure, while in reality there was no key as the house has cyberlock and accessed using a passcode.
