Even in the Rain Casa de Luz is Full of Light

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It rained again this year! We've stayed at Casa De Luz for many years and not always the same week in Sept. The house is PERFECT. Perfect location, perfect accommodation for 2 families. Clean and organized. Fully stocked kitchen - LABELED drawers and cabinets so you know where everything belongs. The weather wasn't great and there were red flags most of the week. We played games and enjoyed the hot tub. We had bad pizza from Giant Slice and great pizza from Lucky's. We had a ton of bagels free and purchased from Lighthouse. THE BEST meal was at Corolla Bowls - Thai at the beach!! Beautiful inside, excellent service, and delicious food. The hot tub was HOT which saved the ugly days.

Excellent week here!

Weather was looking gloomy but this location didn’t disappoint. Close to grocery store, beach, shops and fresh farm stand. Nice and roomy, clean and any issues were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. I loved it here. Ended up with some great beach/pool days. Jacuzzi could use an upgrade but it didn’t take away from any good vibes. Had an absolutely wonderful vacation with family. Aquarium, horse tour, shopping, beach, puzzles, and the complimentary bagels were divine. Would definitely stay here again.

More than we hoped!

This place was beautiful! The location is amazing being so close to the beach and a short bike ride to the stores. All the details were thought of in the home. It was incredible! Our family had an amazing time.

Appreciated the new siding, new decking and new deck furniture. Made some additional memories here. Unfortunately, with THE OBX ONE party house being erected next door, this will be our last stay. We had a good 2yrs run, staying here.

Nice House

We had a nice stay at this house. The exterior of the home was just competed and looks very nice. Amenities and the inside of the home probably need some attention. The lack of a gas grill is a little surprising considering the cost of one and cost of the home. A little upgrade to the linens, pillows, bathrooms would also be great. Some of the finishing's were done a maybe too much of a budget.

Casa de Luz - Home Away from Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are always happy to pull into the driveway! There were some nice upgrades/changes to the exterior storage and interior decor. The kitchen is the real star. Everything is labeled, it's well stocked, and there's plenty of space to work/dine/gather. Proximity to the beach without the hefty oceanside price tag makes this a great choice for us. The beach access has been upgraded as well. The hot tub was hot and the pool was cool - we had a few red flag days so it was great to still get to swim.

House was great, leasing company was not

We had to clean the first two days of arrival. Floors were filthy, bed clothes had not been changed, and garbage cans were so full we had no room to put trash bags. Looked like dusting hadn’t been done in months, hairs left in shower and on toilet. Windows were very dirty with handprints and marks. We were able to get housekeeping to send someone out to get clean bedclothes about 2 hours after arrival. They also did a quick sweep of the floors for us. The dishes In the cabinets were all dirty with food and caked up debris on them. To feel comfortable using them we washed all the dishes we would need and set them aside to reuse them each meal. House keeping manager said she would see about a credit due to the cleanliness issues, but never heard anything else. Called leasing company manager and left a detailed message and got no call back. House was located as described, great location about 5 min walk to the beach. Grocery store and shops 5 mins away. The house itself was roomy and had a great pool and hot tub. Great house, owner should definitely reconsider leasing through Carolina Shores.

Great location, big house

The house was great for our family of 4 and could have accommodated significantly more guests! It was exactly as advertised. It is dated but all was in proper working order and a comfortable stay very close to the beach.

We love Casa de Luz

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been staying here for many years as it fits our family just right. Also, just next door to friends that we love to visit. Every year, we see a few upgrades and appreciate that. New TVs this year were great, though it took a little getting used to the set up for these non techy types (LOL). Not sure why, but we had sheets supplied this year and that saved us some time on check in. Thanks if you had anything to do with that. We will be looking to book again next year, for sure. Couple things that could be addressed - hot tub cut off a few times and we had to call maintenance to get it running again (great response, by the way) and the slider in the Q BR was so difficult to open that it was not used. For Carolina Shores, I would recommend a solution to having to wait for check-in in Duck. How about a physical check in and then a code provided for the door when the home is ready? We get there early and have to wait around, even for our early check in. Thanks!

Outside of the house needs some TLC. Saw several holes in the exterior of the house, including paint peeling. Saw several spindles on the outside porch that were not fastened. Porch was weathered. Pool was nice, but water warms up quickly due to small size. We would stay here again and I would recommend this place to a friend or relative.

Great week in Corolla

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was the perfect house for our OBX vacation. The house, although a bit dated, has great bones and a great, well-maintained space for our 9 guests. The commercial ice machine was a huge plus and helped with drinks at the house and filling coolers for the beach. The walk to beach access was short, although the stairs up and over the dunes were hard for the youngest and oldest in the group. The pool area and pergola were beautiful. Horseshoe pits were excellent, although the horseshoes themselves were oxidized and hard to handle. The mattresses could use an upgrade, but did not negate the positives of the house.
