A "magical retreat" space complete with hiking trails, and multi-level vistas encased
in a peaceful, 5-acre valley just 15 minutes west of downtown. 8 water features, culminating in a 90,000-gallon rain-fed pool. Nothing else feels so”away from it all” while being so close.

The space

The Paintbrush Casita is a studio space with a kitchenette and full bathroom. There are lots of open spaces with an abundance of natural light all around. The extensive 5-acre property offers vistas and hiking amongst natural and sculptural pieces all around. Pathways can lead you to the 3 Ponds or down to the spectacular Pool, complete with a Grotto and waterfall. The covered parking Pavilion is nestled into the rocky hillside. A highlight is an impressive 4-ton pink granite ball fountain that spins on a tiny amount of water...impressing people of all ages.

The property has the feel of the Austin Hill Country but is only minutes from downtown Austin. You will be left in awe by the uniqueness and grandeur of this beautiful respite in the city.

This is a five-acre property with some rough terrain and lots of uneven stone stairs, so sensible shoes/tennis shoes are recommended during your stay.

Beautiful romantic getaway. We stayed during the floods around the area and we couldn't explore much, but we'll be going back. Lovely, peaceful place.

Gorgeous Getaway

This location is beyond beautiful and such a nice hideaway. It was fun to get lost along the paths near the space and find the very cool pool. It is located deep in a residential area of a hill but is still surprisingly very close to Downtown (and ACL) and not more than 30 minutes from our furthest destination. The space is very comfortable and cozy, and the large closet, kitchenette and outdoor space were a major plus. We had everything we needed for our 10-day stay and enjoyed everything. Would highly recommend this spot. P.s. I will note the following but these are not negative points, just things to keep in mind when booking: - You are surrounded by nature to expect a few harmless bugs. - There are no window covers, so bring eye masks. The hosts did provide us some but just in case. - You have to drive on a dirt road to get to the location, so bring an appropriate car. Again, this is a lovely place to stay in and I would definitely look into it for my next stay in Austin. Thanks!

Terrific location to relax and unwind. Beautiful scenery and unique, fun decor around entire property. The host was quick to respond and very helpful. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again!

My dog and I really enjoyed our 2.5 week stay at this property and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to get away…but not too far away. I enjoyed peaceful and the abundant beauty of the property the proximity to Barton Springs.

Wow... Amazing

Pictures do not do justice for this property! Beautiful vistas from so many different levels. Quiet and serene surroundings, in a million dollar plus neighborhood. Too short of a respite for us, so we would love to return for a longer stay. Well done!

Very much enjoyed my stay. Three very peaceful days and nights. Private. Quiet. Clean and comfortable. Purchased on a hillside in Austin's Westlake Hills with windows making up three of the Casita's four walls; it's like staying in a very nice tree house. Austere accommodations. A perfect spot for one or two people. My host was communicative, thoughtful and available while doing an excellent job of respecting my privacy. I would most definitely stay again.

Unique and beautiful property

My husband and I stayed in this studio unit in April. It was wonderful to find such a secluded oasis so close to Austin. We enjoyed exploring the grounds with the various sculpture pieces and little touches of art. We loved relaxing on the patio with a cup of coffee listening to the sounds of the fountain and being surrounded by nature. The pool was not quite ready for swimmers when we visited, but we enjoyed walking the trails to see it. The unit itself is a work of art with beautiful limestone stonework and an ornate shower. We left our stay feeling rested and recharged.
