Our group takes a yearly trip to a destination within a days drive of our Reno home. Our experience this year at Jackalope Acres was as good or better than recent trips to Zion, Yosemite, Mendocino, Mammoth Lakes, and Bend, OR. John is a friendly, enthusiastic, responsive, helpful host both before, during, and after our stay. His manager Erik provides an informative tour as you check in.
We hiked Lassen Peak and Cinder Cone. I recommend both. Lasting experience and memories. And our 20 mile drive to Manton Valley for some wine tasting was an incredible experience! If you go take the time to arrange a visit to Mount Tehama Winery. The owner Alain will provide wine, cheese, and entertainment. You're tasting wine from barrels and vats and any purchases made are bottled as you wait and watch.
During our five day stay I'm so glad we had one "free day". I encourage you to walk around the property. You will probably encounter several deer. And the trout stream has been restored to it's aesthetic beauty and a perfect habitat for the many trout. We played croquet on the huge lawn, had two cornhole games going on the huge wrap around deck, and enjoyed the hot tub. That night we had a fire in the firepit and of course had s'mores. Just bring your fixins, the wood, igniter, and marshmellow roasting sticks are all provided. That's a perfect example of how well equipped the property is anticipating all your needs.
There are five bedrooms - one with two singles which nicely accommodated a father and daughter. One BR has a little loft with a bed and two have a futon or two to offer more options. One single guy in our group slept in the Media Room. That worked out very well. He had plenty of privacy. The two master suites both have a master bath plus there are two more baths with showers. Very convenient for our large group of 12. The dining room table extended to seat all 12 of us! Rarely can we all eat at one table.
You won't be disappointed! In fact your expectations will be exceeded in many ways!
