East Malibu is a mix of rustic tiny village, part flashy hideaway, and is known for surfing and celebrities. For the well-to-do and famous who sought seclusion in East Malibu before its official incorporation as a city in 1991, the balanced blend of nature and beauty has long been part of the draw. With 29 beaches to choose from, several of which provide access to waves of varying sizes and quality, it's simple to see how the town became associated with surfing. East Malibu's sustained relevance has been preserved through its genuineness.
The list of artists, media moguls, and power brokers who presently reside in East Malibu, or had resided there, is long, varied, and star-studded.
Although the distance between Hollywood and Malibu is only 27 miles, it feels like a world apart, and it's easy to spend days discovering everything Malibu has to offer.

From tasty eateries and fashionable boutiques to name brand apparel stores and antique shops, the shopping venues in and around East Malibu have something for everyone.
