We had a fun time at this cottage on Round Lake and enjoyed exploring the rest of the Halfmoon Chain in the rented pontoon boat. (Fishing was so-so, some bass and a pike, plus panfish caught using bait.) The cottage is cozy, so best for family (or longtime friends) who don't need a lot of privacy. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, utensils and cookware, and we appreciated the dishwasher which is cleverly built into the island. The property was not as quiet as we had hoped, mostly due to neighbors shouting at their yappy dogs (and a deck construction project next door which is now finished), but the setting is amazing. So beautiful to cruise in the pontoon boat along the undeveloped lakeshore (state land) and see herons and osprey. For a fun excursion, you can go have dinner in Hell (Michigan), right down the road. Pastries from the Pinckney Bakery are also a must!
We can't say enough about the kindness and friendliness of the owners. We experienced an overnight power outage (due to strong storms in the area) and Bill was right there with a generator to rescue our vacation the next morning. Once you leave the pavement and head down the gravel road to the cottage, you won't want to leave!
