This cozy little cottage was perfect for me and my 2 boys! We all slept upstairs, in the 2 spacious BRs, with a pull-out loveseat, 2 Kings, and a large closet- which was perfect for their own private nap nook. With all of that too, we were able to alter sleeping arraingments to suit their moods.
They are both early risers, starting at 5:15, so the 2 twin room downstairs, became there playroom, while mommy rested upstairs peacefully. The fireplace kicked out a lot of warmth, so it looked great and was very functional. We didn't need to use central heat half the time. The kitchen was well stocked, with any basics you need, as well as some spices, etc.; things you'd love to have but may not remember to pack. They even labeled contents of cabinets and drawers for ease of use! The wood throughout the cabin made it feel rustic but because it was light and the rest of the house was modernized, it was more of a cute cottage rather than a rustic cabin, getaway. It exceeded expectations from the web pics. The lake is across the street, so its an amazing view, as well as super easy access to the beach for sand play and rock climbing, this time of year. As another bonus for location, it was a mile from safeway/starbucks, and less than 15 minutes from Northstar.
Large TVs in the rooms and downstairs. Because it was a small living space downstairs, its probably best for young-ish kids, or families that want to be out and about a lot. For us it was perfect. They could color and hang out at the table while I cooked, hang out in the yard to play, in their "playroom" when in the building and playing mode, then we could all go to the beach and northstar when we wanted to get out and about. The bathrooms were very nicely updated and the whole place was very clean. I would definitely stay here again. The only downside, if you have light sleepers, make sure to bring a noise machine as you do hear street noise since its so close to the main road. Luckily, we travel with one as my guys have always been light sleepers, but it could have been an issue. That being said, its not a crazy busy road.
I could definitely see coming here for a guys or gals trip, romantic getaway, or a couple families joint short getaway. I also got an immediate response from owners when trying to book and was able to do so day of, at a great rate for the house/location. Keyless entry was another nice touch; no having to search for keys or worry about losing them.
