Owner was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. House was WELL stocked with everything we needed! Linens were soft. Kitchen appliances & tools were plentiful. Nightly rate was appropriate for location and amenities. Hey Sailor restaurant has good food and is only steps away. The local market was closed for renovations during our stay, but it wasn’t far from the large chain grocery.
The town of Belfast is super close and has a great downtown area. Food: Eat More Cheese, farm to table, Japanese. Shopping: dollhouse miniatures, gifts, second hand, shoes, green living, etc.
Parks and hiking trails nearby allowed us to take both short and long hikes with the dogs. Train ride in Unity was a bit on the boring side but wasn’t a bad way to kill an hour and would be great for kids and folks looking for something relaxing.
Nearby was the Alpaca Experience! Really nice owners and you have the option to pay a little and get in the pen with the animals. Giftshop had a good selection.
Things to note:
1. Stairs to the second floor are narrow and would not be easy for anyone with mobility challenges.
2. Track lighting is kitchen could be dangerous for anyone over 6’. My 6’5” husband really struggled to avoid hitting his head.
3. House is damp but if you run the nice AC units, it helps a lot.
4. On a decently busy road and locals go by fast...be careful with pets. With 2 cars the back ends were right on the road.

Thanks for the very thorough response, Linda. It will give folks a good sense of the many places to visit in the area. A great travelog!
Yes, the stairs are very steep in the house. The house is one of the oldest in Searsport, shown in town records as early as 1800. Because of its age, the stairs are grandfathered in and the ceilings are relatively low. I can definitely understand that a 6'5" man might be a bit bothered!
The yard to the house is actually to the side between the brook and the house. I should mention in my blurb about the house that cars get parked directly in front of the house and that Mt. Ephraim Road is right there behind where the cars are parked.
Thanks for being a great guest and have a wonderful fall!

I grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania with 5 brothers and sisters. Farm life creates independence and my siblings and children are all entrepreneurs of some sort or another! Many years ago, I started a small retail business featuring Birkenstocks, Danskos and natural fiber clothing made in the USA and Europe. My daughter now manages our little boutique in Fort Collins, CO.
I was an art major and philosophy minor. I love creating spaces where people feel safe in this somewhat topsy turvy world in which we live. Our boutique, our short term rental spots, and the great people we meet give our lives meaning.
