We absolutely adored our stay at the Red Cottage! For a family of 10 adults and 5 young boys, there was plenty of space for everyone. While we could have been very comfortable in the cottage all week, we prefer to be outside and couldn't get enough of the calm pebble beach (with brand new stone bench built into the sea wall); many kayak and canoe rides over the crystal clear waters; and enjoying reading, meals, or games on the lovely deck. A fire pit with partial wraparound stone bench is nearly complete and made a perfect pirate ship for the young pirates we brought on the trip.We were lucky that our trip coincided with the tall ships arriving in Portsmouth and were invited to watch the arrival from Jim and Tudor's lawn. The views were stunning. We were fortunate to not "need" the elevator; however, the kids enjoyed getting around on it and it was very helpful with luggage. The bunk room does have a staircase in it; however, we just used the elevator when anyone was sleeping in the bunk room, so no issues. We could easily cook any meal between the large indoor and outdoor kitchens, but for our lobster dinner, Jim acquired and cooked the most delicious lobsters. Other food was prepared for us during the week and it was absolutely delicious. Jim and Tudor - Thank you for sharing this lovely cottage and being such wonderful hosts!
