We are a family of 6 and I don't mean 4 little ones. We are a family of 2 parents, 2 adult children and 2 teenagers. Let me go further and say that we have 4 sons. When booking a place, space is ALWAYS the biggest concern. Next is location. Comfort and cleanliness. And number of bathrooms! (just keeping it real).
The Banana Plantation checked all of our boxes. Starting with the wonderful property manager, January, who greeted us upon arrival. Even before we arrived, she was so gracious to answer my many questions (she could probably get a side gig as a travel agent or vacation planner).
The house is super clean (and I am a bit of a clean freak), very spacious (lots of seating), and plenty of places for us to lounge & chill after a day of activities. The house is stocked with towels, blankets, etc, as well. I did find that I had to do laundry a few times because we went through the towels pretty quickly, but that was super easy because there is a full-sized laundry room in the house.
I think what I loved most was the location. It is literally steps away from the water. There is a private path that takes all of 2 minutes to walk from the property to the edge of the water. The water can be a bit choppy because it is on the north shore, but it was so fun to watch the kite surfers. My sons also came across sea turtles while they were out.
I loved the location and being so close to both Kahului and Paia. The road to Hana was right there and the drive to Lahaina was easy.
So you are probably wondering about the airplane noise. I'm not gonna lie. It's there. It's not quiet and not all of us got used to it. However, we all got plenty of rest. Some of us got earplugs (but they are light sleepers anyway) and we all enjoyed our stay at the Banana Plantation.
