We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tidal Falls house a few weeks ago. It was the perfect location to have as a “home base” while visiting Acadia National Park and other areas on the coast. The home is spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. It was almost as if you were walking into someone’s home that you were house-sitting for the week. Unless you need something specific or unique, there was no need to pick up spices or condiments for the stay. There were plenty of linens, pillows, towels, etc.Every bedroom has a view of the bay…such a treat! There were nearly always ducks paddling by, and twice we saw otters, which I didn’t realize at the time was a little unusual for the time we were there. We didn’t see any eagles, but I’m sure they were around. You can see the reversing falls at the Tidal Falls Preserve from the back deck…it’s just one road up. Be sure to stop in there and enjoy that area! It took us about 45 minutes to get from the house in Hancock to Acadia National Park, but the drive was nice. There are larger shops and numerous restaurants in Ellsworth, which is not too far away. We tended to fix our own breakfast at the house, and then be out and about for lunch, often bringing leftovers home for supper. Although there were neighboring houses on either side of us, it still felt private. Lydia, the host, is very responsive. I had a couple questions just prior to our check in, and she was quick to respond. Highly recommend!
