Tuscany at it Finest.

The property is better than described. Michael's attention to detail are on full display within the property and throughout our stay. During our stay we had constant access to our host with information and making sure everything was to our complete satisfaction. This centrally located property is a must stay if traveling in the region. We look forward to our next visit where we will stay here again!

Great vacation home in Tuscany

We had an amazing time at Michael's villa in Tuscany. Upon arrival we were greeted by Maria and served a home cooked Italian meal with fantastic wine. The location was perfect, centrally located to travel north to Florence as well as south to Val D'Orcia and Montepulciano. But even in our backyard of Villa a Sesta there were TWO Michelin one star restaurants literally walking distance way. We ate at Del 30 (which Michael set up for us) and was excellent--served by the owner and head chef. The house had all the amenities we needed with a idyllic views of vineyards as far as the eye can see. Highly recommend! Would definitely stay again.

One check for the bucket list!

Thank you Michael for sharing your's and David's dream with us. It was everything we could have hoped for and more. You have managed to blend the old Tuscany with all the modern ammenities making for a very comfortable stay. I must say that making your garden with all those huge fresh tomatoes available to us has inspired me to start a garden of my own at home. We are looking forward to coming back again someday.

Top Dream Villa in Tuscany

This was our first experience staying at a VRBO and we definitley picked a winner! From the moment you arrive you realize this is what you always imagined Tuscany would be! Michael has thought of everything. His home is exquisite! We were traveling with another couple and stayed for seven nights. We sat outside every evening in the the beautiful courtyard surrounded by vineyards. The property is perfectly located in the middle of Tuscany. We hired Stefano a driver/guide that Michael recommended. He drove us to a winery in the Montalcino region and to a great farm to table restaurant for lunch, a great start to our week. On another day we visited Antinori vineyards for a great lunch and tour! We had three fabulous dinners at Osteria alla Villa where the owner Rudolfo, his wife Angela and server Danelli took very good care of us with fabulous food and wine! The restaurant is located close by in the town of Villa A Sesta. It was a wonderful experience and we cant thank Micheal enough for sharing his beautiful home with us.

If you're looking for a place to relax, enjoy wonderful food and wine, this is the place. The home is charming, the countryside beautiful, food and wine were low cost and fantastic. Close to Siena and only about 1.5 hour drive from Florence. We highly recommend this place.

Idyllic Slice of La Dolce Vita

Tough to capture all of the things we loved about Michael’s property…. It started with the timely and accurate communications leading up to our arrival, ensuring we knew how to arrive and access the property. Upon meeting us there, Michael was the consummate host and had several local delicacies available for us to eat/drink. I won’t spoil it for others, but wow…. What a treat! After a thorough tour of the place, showing us how everything worked, we enjoyed spending a few minutes getting to know Michael and his vision for the property. He slipped away and we began a week in heaven…. So perfectly located in the heart of Tuscany. Our day trips to Siena, Florence, San Quirico and several other towns were amazing. Three Michelin starred restaurants within 2 km (AMAZING food…). Beautiful scenic drives, castles, vineyards everything so conveniently located nearby but TOTALLY private while at La Chiusa. We truly cannot wait to come back. Michael - Thank you so very much for sharing your place with us…. Ciao!!!

Tuscan splendor

Our stay was beyond lovely - the house was the perfect mix of comfort and beauty. It felt larger than in the pictures and the outdoor spaces were especially spectacular. Michael was helpful with recommendations and we had everything we needed to cook and enjoy ourselves outdoors. The location was great - minutes from two lovely towns with amazing restaurants and 1/2 hour from Siena - all while being at the pool or outside on the patio felt totally private and secluded. Would come return in a heartbeat.

Overall the property is true Tuscan style, with all the modern conveniences. It was perfect for two couples, and the pool is extremely peaceful and private.

I don't know where to begin, as it is difficult to describe the countless extra fine details that make this luxury villa the highest standard for all luxury vacation rental properties should be judged...from the thoughtfully filled fridge, the welcome basket, the freedom to use and enjoy everything and even the small packet of fireworks for our kids to celebrate July 4th.....just to name a few. The patio, the location, the comfort, the coziness, the privacy, the pool, the decor, the recommendations, the kitchen, the patio again, the details again - WOW! A note to potential future renters......if you are fortunate enough to come across this listing while looking for a place to stay in Tuscany. Stop looking. You will not find better. PERFECT

This villa was just as Michael had described it to us. It was in a perfect location, just about 20 mins. from Siena in the tiny town of Villa A Sesta. The villa itself was everything we had hoped for and more. It was immaculate and very well-maintained. The views were spectacular and the restaurants near by were fantastic. Micheal made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation and will, most definitely, be coming back in the future. Absolutely Wonderful

The villa was just as Michael had described it to us. It was nestled in the tiny town of Villa A Sesta about 20 mins. away from Siena. You could actually walk to four great restaurants in the little town; and the views from the villa were spectacular. The villa itself was immaculate, well- equipped, and well- maintained. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The owner made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Thanks, Michael, for making our vacation so enjoyable. Stress free luxury.

Everything was just as advertised, if not better. The house is in a picture book location and was very comfortable for the 7 of us. Michael was a very responsive and attentive host who was happy to help us with everything, including restaurant recommendations and reservations. Our 6 year olds loved the house, the pool and the cats. Michael introduced us to Stefano, who we hired to pick us up from the airport and drive us around throughout our stay. We highly recommend this as it saved us from stressing about directions, parking etc and allowed us to have an extra glass of wine at lunchtimes. A wonderful trip from start to finish.

Just perfect!

Six of us (including a 7 and 8 year old) stayed at this villa and it was absolutely amazing. We had Emily come out and cook and serve dinner our first night and it was nothing short of magical. The property is very well kept and furnished. The bathrooms and kitchen are modern and had all of the amenities us Chicagoans would desire. The location was close enough to the hill towns to easily go in for dinner or site seeing but far enough away to feel like you're in your own, secluded Tuscan estate. The view was absolutely breath taking. I'm recommending this beautiful property to all of my friends!

Best friends celebrating a 50th Birthday

We travelled from the USA and UK to enjoy this beautiful Accommodation . We simply did not want to leave . We loved the Terrace and the Privacy of the accommodation and all the beautiful details it had . Our girlie holiday consisted of five friends who have known each other 20-40 years we had a lot of catching up to do .Leaving Hubby's and children back home how lovely to have the breath taking views , enjoying many a Prosecco and Red wine days .Eating too much and touring Sienna and San Gimignano but above all ,having a fabulous time , with lots of laughter especially the car ride going up the drive to the accommodation .Amanda ,Denise,Elaine,Maxine and Cath will treasure the time we had here forever.Big Thankyou

This home provided a perfect getaway for our family of 5 including 2 teenagers and an 8 yr. old. When we weren't exploring the neighboring hill towns we enjoyed walks through the vineyards, time at the pool, and simply relaxing on the terrace with an amazing view. Michael was so gracious and was well-known throughout the local area which ensured special treatment for his guests. The house had plenty of space for our family. We look forward to a return visit!

The house and location are one of the most beautiful spots in Italy. (BTW the photos of the house are lovely but really don't do it justice. It is spectacular!) The property is set among breathtaking vineyards with a view of the bell tower in the local village. It is peaceful and private but within easy reach of the local village and the slightly larger town of Castelnuovo Berardegna. The house itself is beautifully restored and appointed and large enough to have provided our family of four (including two teenagers!) with plenty of breathing room. Located at the gateway to the Chianti Classico region you are within easy driving distance of many of the great vineyards and the charming villages of southern Chianti. We also used the house as our base to travel further afield to Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, Lucca and Pisa. We really had an amazing time at LaChiusa and cannot recommend this house enough.

La Chiusa + Michael = magic

La Chiusa in Chianti is a special place. We have traveled frequently in Italy (family is half-Italian) and are intimate with the country and culture. So it was with some skepticism that we rented a restored Tuscan farmhouse owned and operated by an American from So. Cal. But we were absolutely delighted in every respect. This place is *magic* and having an American host/owner meant the house has probably more welcome perks than we appreciated. Michael and David have transformed this Chianti farmhouse into a delectable spot to relax, retreat and dolce far absolutely niente. David deftly designed patios and multi-level terraces so that the home has way more private retreat nooks and views than a house this size otherwise would. While Google Earth suggested it was near other homes and structures, La Chiusa is absolutely isolated and private: One can walk the house's perimeter naked, free of spectators, 24/7. Michael's olive orchard stretches up and to the west, vineyards roll away north and east. La Chiusa's landscaping is simple, smart, elegant, complete with Wisteria-draped dining pergola and multiple lush herb pots adorning the steps up to the front door (conveniently opening into the kitchen). Our September stay was past prime swimming season and only one of us used the pool. But in summer heat – a joy for sure. We were delighted with the exquisite interior design and decoration at La Chiusa. The home is packed with unique, charming and exceptional antique or vintage finds that we were grateful Michael and David were willing to share with VRBO guests (incl packed shelves of books & maps). La Chiusa is stunningly, fabulously stylish, tasteful, personal, cozy (the living room!) and charming – a real bonus. Finally, a well-deserved pitch for host Michael – a gem. He stocked the kitchen with bread, oil, fruit, wine, sweets and too many other consumables to list here (check before you shop!). He stopped by just about every day, first to welcome us but then to water and weed and do little chores. Anything but intrusive, more like ghostly invisible. Truth is, we wouldn't have minded seeing more of him, to pick his brain about local touring details. Michael did generously provide tips and even offered to personally guide us to a parking lot in Siena close enough to the duomo for an elderly member of our party to make the walk (we figured it out without him). You can't go wrong with Michael and La Chiusa. Superb host and magic place.

Lifetime Experience

Authentic Tuscan Villa in serene setting. Tastefully decorated with old world charm. Great central location to explore Tuscany and surrounding areas. Villa was beyond expectations in very private setting. Views of vineyards and mountains were endless. Hilltop pool was perfect spot to chill and view the wonderful setting while planning the next day adventure. Nine days at this Villa and never once bored. Surrounding small towns and vineyards provide good food and wine experiences. Excellent support staff at the end of road were very helpful. Convenient to market about 6 kilometers away. Outdoor fireplace with grill adds to cooking experience.

Did not want to leave

We stayed at La Chiusa in Chianti the last week of April 2014. We picked this location because it is really central to all of the wine regions in Tuscany. The location is perfect; we spent each day visiting the nearby wineries/hill towns of Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Cortona, and the Chianti region. The villa is amazing - the pictures on the website, although great, really do not do the property justice. The villa is beautiful, comfortable, and very private, surrounded by a vineyard on one side and an olive grove on the other. The kitchen is also one of the best equipped rental property kitchens I have seen – we made pasta from scratch almost nightly to have with the wine we collected from our adventures. We are already planning a return trip in 2015. Thanks again Michael for your hospitality.
