I stayed at Cathy and Stefano’s place for two months – to rest, de-stress, write, and soak up that wonderful Hawaiian sunshine. I wanted a place that would be beautiful, calming, and provide a sense of home and comfort. Their condo home provided this and so much more.
The owners, Cathy and Stefano, are wonderful people, folks you’d want to be friends with if they lived in your neighborhood. They were in contact with me prior to my arrival, made sure everything was okay when I arrived, and checked in periodically during my lengthy stay to be sure all was well. I really felt as though I wasn’t just a renter from them, and that they truly wanted to be sure I was enjoying my stay and had what I needed. I feel like a valued guest and friend.
The unit has been thoughtfully renovated, with a Hawaiian décor in neutral tones. The unit isn’t too cluttered, either, which is something I appreciated. However, it is stocked with pretty much anything you would want or need. The galley kitchen has a good selection of pots, pans, utensils, etc. that make preparing meals – from simple to gourmet – easy. The dining table comfortably seats four. The king size bed is a wonderful luxury – and it is very comfortable. The unit also has many of the items you might wish to take to the beach, including beach chairs, towels, boogey board, and mask/snorkels.
As it is a corner unit you can open the windows on two sides, and a nice breeze will flow through. I loved the unobstructed view of the mountains from the living room, lanai and bedroom.
I always felt safe, both in the unit itself as well as the area surrounding the Banyan. Also, the Banyan and this unit are very quiet. As it is located on the Diamond Head end of Waikiki you will not be subject to the street noise [like garbage trucks at 4 am, or noisy and obnoxious people leaving the bars/clubs] that other condo buildings get.
The location is ideal – a block from a bus stop, two blocks from the beach, walking distance (~1 mile, so a longer walk) from a Safeway and the great stores and restaurants on Kapahulu – which are just outside the Waikiki craziness. It also is nearby all the restaurants and shops of Waikiki.
If you are hesitant about renting this unit – don’t be! Staying here will likely be one of the best decisions you make concerning your trip to Hawaii. I have already booked for next year, and am looking forward to another stay. I’ll rent from Cathy and Stefano as long as I can!
