Amazing property. My husband and I had and wonderful peaceful time. The food below the cabin was really really good too. Prices were great. Wonderful. You won’t be disappointed.

Ken, the host, was awesome. The VRBO website wouldn’t allow us to modify our reservation, but Ken handled what VRBO couldn’t. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, and guided us to the perfect locations that met all our requests. The apartment had every amenity we needed. Hopeful to hear details on the dates for the haunted trail they host in the fall.

It was good it was worth it for the price everything was clean when we got there beds were comfortable although not trying to complain but there was hardly any utensils it would’ve been nice if there was a grill there but I get it that takes money to buy although there was one thing I wasn’t really happy about there was a cup that said b*ch b*ch b*ch I would strongly suggest getting rid of that for it to be kid friendly other than that I would stay there again

It has come to my attention that there were 5 guests staying in the suite. The reservation was made for 1. The maximum guest allowed is 4. 5 guests goes against the stated house rules and policies and has been reported to VRBO so other hosts can be aware of misleading renters.

The apartment was very clean and cozy in its furnishings and had the needed supplies for cooking and other household activities. There was no place to sit outside. There is convenient parking, but note that it is on a very dusty road and our car and bikes were covered daily. The worst part of the stay was the virtually non-existent wi-fi. It was slow, and constantly buffering or just dropping/unavailable. We couldn't use the tiny Roku TV because it wouldn't connect/load except for a few minutes. Visitors to the area should bring a PA map because of the dead zones. Though the property is just down the road from Leonard Harrison State Park, the description of it being "close" to the Pine Creek Trail is a relative statement. It is eight miles to the nearest northern access and 20 miles to the nearest southern access. In both cases, one must drive near to Wellsboro as part of those drives. The distance from Wellsboro to the northern access is also 8 miles, and a shorter 18 miles to the nearest southern access. In contrast to Wellsboro's many amenities, Omi's Hideaway has only a sandwich shop and a limited restaurant next door.

Having the opportunity to retire early due to her military career, followed by state employment, your hostess Susan (now better known as Omi) was looking for her next chapter in life.

On a drive to the PA Grand Canyon overlook at Leonard Harrison State Park one day, she was saddened to see the famous landmark once known as Animaland, which had been closed at this point for over a year, was becoming overgrown and in much need of attention. She also noticed a sign stating it was available. The challenge became clear, to bring this unique building back to life. By the fall of 2017 the restorations began, and by Memorial Day weekend of 2018 the doors were once again open under a new name - Omi of the Canyon. Concentrating on the gift shop and snack bar to get things started, renovations continued each year to offer more products and a greater experience to visitors. By the summer of 2024, Omi’s Hideaway was completed and is now available as a unique vacation rental.
