The Poppy Seed - Cozy Lakefront Studio on Lake Hickory

Your cozy getaway awaits in Hickory at this lovely studio. The space features 1 queen bed. Guests can enjoy amenities like WiFi, AC, grill. Access to kayaks & paddle boards right at your fingertips. Enjoy fishing, games, Paddle to the Marina for an ice cream or drink. Take a stroll on the River Walk. Less than 10 minutes to downtown, city walk and plenty of restaurants, bars and breweries. Crawdads baseball just across the river with fireworks on home games.
Within an hour you can be up in the mountains enjoying a hike or nearby towns. You'll feel right at home during your stay. Fall in love with Hickory and enjoy the magic it has to offer.
**The Studio is part of my residence, however there are no shared spaces other than the outdoors. The studio is private and has it's own entrance and patio.
***Now accepting month to month rentals through April 2026. Perfect for travel nurse, contractors or the need for temporary housing***

The room was completely clean and comfortable. The living quarters are small but all that are needed for a couple. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. 100% recommended.

I loved staying at the Poppy Seed. It's a beautiful place and peaceful. It was clean and had everything I needed during my stay. I was able to cook and had a full refrigerator. The bed is comfortable. Deedee the host is amazing and I really enjoyed my stay. I will recommend the Poppy Seed to friends. Thank you Deedee.

Relaxing and quiet

Fun place to stay, perfectly set up. Everything you need or want plus on a home ball game night you get fireworks! The host was wonderful and delightful to chat with. Just a lovely stay!

Beautiful Stay

Came in for a long weekend to explore the area. This was an absolutely cute and beautiful place to stay. Loved being able to sit outside in the morning with my coffee and down by the lake to watch the sunset each day. The kitchen is perfectly appointed, the bed was comfortable, and everything was quaint and cozy. Great weekend escape for some quite rest.

Very clean and inviting space. Being right on the lake made for great mornings to wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee. Dee was very friendly and a good host. Will look to returning in the future.

I was very happy with the lawn, toys, water being right there, and cleanliness of the property. The bed leaves a lot to be desired however. And the green couch as well. Otherwise, great place to stay!

Charming Place for Short or Extended Stay

I can’t say enough good about this studio space or its owner—both were exceptional! I stayed for nearly three months as part of a work relocation and the apartment was such a nice place to come home to after work and house hunting. Beautiful area on the water with all the attendant sights and sounds, including a family of geese. Couldn’t recommend more highly!

Wonderful!

The studio is charming. I enjoyed my stay tremendously. It was quiet and relaxing which was what I was looking for. The owner has done an amazing job at making it feel cozy and warm. The property is right on the lake. You can look out and see water. I didn't kayak or paddle board, but I will next time I stay. The property is close to everything, a short drive to restaurants and about 10 minutes to downtown. It was very easy to get too and find.

The Poppy Seed is truly a gem! With its studio apartment style setup, it has everything you need in one large room (plus a bathroom). The host DeeDee has thought of absolutely everything a traveler could possibly need, and she was very quick to respond to messages and help in any way needed. There are so many thoughtful, small touches that make this place feel so inviting and comforting. We loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs by the lake, watching the herons fly over the water, and listening to the gentle waves on the lakeshore. Access to kayaks and paddle boards was also a big plus! Hickory River walk access is less than five minutes’ drive away, “downtown” Hickory is about 10 minutes away, and there are many other great places to explore nearby. A stellar location!
