We’ve rented several homes, but the ElkInn has rocked the charts. We are a family of wannabe chefs & were pleasantly surprised by all the cooking pans, utensils & just about every gadget we were use to, incl a crock pot, blender & hand mixer. The cupboards were stocked with more than enough dishes, serviceware, storage containers and spices for our family of 10. The washer and dryer - a life saver.
Thank you for including paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, toilet paper and laundry detergent. We came with all as most rentals provide little, if any.
The lake house was gorgeous-beautifully laid out; the decor warm, comfortable & inviting. I especially enjoyed the various uplifting sayings displayed through out. My mornings began at 6am on the deck w/a cup of ☕️ & an hour to enjoy nature before all the activity began.
The lake was just a 5 min trek from the house-pier. The hike back up was a bit challenging for older folks, but the double seat half way up was appreciated, a short break for those who needed to catch a breathe and to view beautiful scenery. The kids/young adults had no problems running up & down several times each day.
The weather couldn’t have been better. We swam everyday, enjoyed evenings around the camp fire.
We always bring board games/crafts to do just in case, however there were many games provided & the lower level family room had a lge table & a TV where the kids could congregate. Although the TV was seldom used, nice to have available as was the WiFi and wii gaming system.
As a family we went rafting at Shotgun Eddy’s and Horseback riding @ Living Color Stables-.both great fun.
It was wonderful to have use of the kayaks/canoe, which were used everyday. The g/kids (6, 11, 12,14) had a ball on the swim raft. G/ma & G/pa used it as well.
The crayfish netting was a huge hit! Although only a few catch-release bass caught, it was so much fun for all who wished to give it a go.
Experiencing the call of the loons, the baby riding on mama’s back, the eagle flyovers and visits by the deer had us all on the lookout. No bear sighting, but the daughter in law who ran every morning was happy about that.
Just a heads up: the grocery store in Crandon or Antigo is a bit of a drive so bring what you can and try not to waste the time you have running for supplies.
While we had mobile service there, it was off and on when out and about.
Cons: not having another day or two alone
