We had an incredible time at the lakefront compound on Lake Benedict. Between us, we had 5 children, all tall boys/young men ranging from 15 - 20. They were able to sleep comfortably in the kids "dormitory" - even the daybed and trundle are comfortable. There's a 4th (unadvertised) bedroom that is very small (fits just the double bed itself) - but as an extra space to lay one's head it was perfect. The other 2 bedrooms face the lake, have comfortable beds (I'm picky about this), and plenty of space to keep folded and hanging clothes. There are also multiple hooks in the bedrooms and bathrooms, allowing for towels and bathing suits to be hung.
The set-up of the first floor was wonderful for games. We had at least 7 and often 9 people gathered around the coffee table, and we sometimes played around the large table on the deck outside. The upstairs living area is great, too - comfortable couch and perfect table for a foursome to play cards while overlooking the lake.
Now for the best part - the lake. We loved the canoe and paddle boards (so nice to have 2). Check out the adjacent Lake Tombeau by canoe - it's lovely. The peddle boat was nice, with an awning for shade. The lake water is crystal clear and was a comfortable temp during our stay. It's shallow off the end of the pier so not possible to jump in, but that minor downside was offset by all of the water tubes, floats, and toys that made the swimming fun. (Bring water shoes for tender feet.) Loved the bear cave!
