Stone Mountain Stay

If you are looking for a trip to Stone Mountain this is the perfect stay. It is a taste of country on the outside edge of Atlanta, perfectly located for anything you want to do in the area.

Perfect location to Stone Mountain

Great Thanksgiving Retreat

We enjoyed our stay while visiting family around Northlake area. Cathy had a goodie basket awaiting us and a list of restaurants and sights to see. On the first evening we enjoyed sitting on the porch overlooking the pond. The house is very comfortable with whimsical style. I would like to come back the next time we visit!

Excellent and Welcoming

Cathy was more than just accommodating and hospitable. The house certainly transported us away from our own home. We were rained in most of the time, but the location was easily accessible to the aquarium and Fernbank. It is also close to Stone Mountain. And the time we spent indoors was most enjoyable. We carried our fun within our family, but the house provided the comforting setting to have the fun.

Last minute booking/Dorian

We booked this property the day before arrival due to Hurricane Dorian as we are Florida coastal residents. Cathy was so supportive and responsive, it was so easy to make arrangements, I received a wonderful check-in email with absolutley every detail we needed, including surrounding attractions to visit, grocery stores, etc. The house was super clean and organized. At the same time there were so many little treasures and personal touches in this house, it made our stay so interesting. Wonderful bedding, many extra touches and generous supplies. Cathy has a big heart, it is easy to see. We were lucky to have found this property and would go back again for sure. Thank you for your help and support Cathy !!!

Best Fun Home Ever !

Oh my, where shall I start ? This cozy fun home is magical 🌟 From the moment you walk in you feel the unique coziness and the abundance of fun colors and all kinds of fun comfy furniture. My grandkids were mesmerized as well as their parents and this 64 old grandma. Beds and linens superb. Plenty of space and privacy rooms for all 6 of us. The view is to die although due to the constant rain and ongoing construction around the lake we were unable to try the canoe and outdoor extensive surroundings. But, we are planing to return for sure. Our host could not have been more gracious and helpful every time I needed to ask her stuff even about the funny squirrels peeking thru the living room glass window one day. 🤣 We love this place and give it a 10 !!!!!! Thank You Cathy for all the fun work you have put in that lovely home. 🎊🙌🏻😍

Exemplary host and unique property, but...

Cathy was absolutely the most responsive and helpful host we have ever dealt with. She answered all our questions promptly and went out of her way to make sure we were happy, leaving us lots of treats and a nice welcome card. The property is very unique - a farmhouse meets artist retreat vibe. We were visiting our son who just moved to Atlanta, and the house is very easy to to get to from the highway yet in a secluded neighborhood on a pond. The house has 2 nice bedrooms, and 2 other rooms with futons, so there was plenty of sleeping space for the 4 of us. Everything should have been perfect, but I feel I have to let prospective travelers know that the property smells strongly of mold. When we arrived and opened the door, the smell of mold immediately hit us. My daughter and I both have mold allergies, but even my husband thought the smell was strong. We did not have the budget to find another place to stay, so we cranked the AC as low as it would go, and spent as much time as possible outside on the pleasant sunporch, or just away from the house. My son wouldn't even stay with us because of the smell, which defeated the point of finding a large enough VRBO property for him to join us. Atlanta is a humid city and the house would benefit from a dehumidifier if there isn't one. Perhaps even the carpet on the lower level should be replaced. The odor was much worse there. If you aren't bothered by an "old farmhouse" smell, everything else about this property and host are wonderful.

Comfort, Original Art and View

This is a magical place. The owner's artistic expression is everywhere you look - even on the light switches. The view of the creek from one of two living rooms is so lovely. The porch is a delight. The Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make meals. The dining room is charming. The beds are comfortable. Having two living rooms made working easy. WOW!

Peaceful stay at pond side home

The home was incredibly clean and convenient, with a great location in a quiet neighborhood with lovely surroundings. Very close to Stone Mountain park and convenient to groceries. This felt like a cozy stay at a friend's house and can't say enough positive things about our visit. Cathy was incredibly responsive and super flexible and accommodating on our requests.

Hurricane Dorian Retreat

My family and I met up in Atlanta, my Daughters and Grandsons has to evacuate the Eastern seaboard due to the hurricane. We had a wonderful stay at the Golden Pond house. Very comfortable and everything was within a 30 minute drive, the aquarium, museum’s and so on. The house felt really comfortable, and the owner was very attentive to our requests. We had a 1 rear old with us, so we had to baby proof a few areas, but all in all a great stay. Would recommend to anyone to do it again.

Such a happy house!

The pictures on the website do not lie! This home was so bright and filled with life and attention! My family of 8 as well as 2 great danes felt completely at home! We loved the twinkle lights and bright colors everywhere! My 4 boys loved the huge yard and pond. The home was close to everything. The hosts were super friendly, more than accommodating, very responsive and even after our stay followed up with items left behind. The hosts even left a hand written note (more than a line or two) to welcome us! We would definitely stay in this beautiful home again!!!

Lovely and relaxing place

We stayed on Golden Pond while moving to Atlanta and house-hunting. It was a comfortable and well located spot for exploring the area. The walk around the pond is fantastic and makes for a relaxing end to a busy day. Cathy was responsive and helpful with information and recommendations, and is an all around wonderful person.

A house designed for holidays

What a singular and charming house this was! We convened on Golden Pond from points throughout the Carolinas and Georgia to celebrate an annual floating holiday of our own design. The pictures on VRBO made it clear that the house, being colorful and unique, was a good match for our silliness. And it was! The adults spent most their time on the porch; the kids roamed happily and are insistent that we return for future occasions of our holiday. Though it's written into the bylaws that we not repeat locales for said holiday, we are considering making an amendment. Cathy gave us our space but was accessible and quick to help when we needed it. Great time had by all, well worth the price.

The cutest place

This was our first experience with HomeAway. We couldn't have picked a better start to our stay. We managed 3 attractions in our short stay. We did World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium and of course Stone Mountain Park. We had 2 younger and one older boy with us. The younger boys especially liked the "lake house" as they called it when they weren't calling it home. They were very sad to go. The home is exactly as listed. Cathy was a great host. Always available even though out of town during that time. I would definitely recommend Golden Pond to anyone. We posted pics on social media and got many great comments on the decor. If asked I will definitely steer them here. Thank you Cathy for allowing us to share in the cuteness. Much Aloha, Smith Ohana.

This lakefront house is perfect in so many ways. It is central to everything, yet quiet and peaceful with a serenity where you and yours can get away from it all. It's colorful, unique, artistic and fun but with all the comforts of home. Two brand new ultra comfortable king and queen mattresses upstairs, a cool private suite downstairs with office, walk-out screened porch, pull out couch and a cozy upstairs private futon - intimate! The kitchen is fully loaded and perfect if you'd like to cook a modest meal with a recently added new stove and refrigerator. It's really fun to be on the lake. We do have a canoe which is available for your stay for a modest $30. We have free WIFI, Netflix, sometimes Amazon Prime, an office area, if needed, and laundry facilities, if desired. We are close to Stone Mountain Park, two fabulous farmers markets and easy access car ride, MARTA ride or Uber ride to downtown. The airport is easy and accessible, 30 minutes away. People love relaxing on the screened porch and just kicking back enjoying the lake views. Our decor is truly one of a kind and very colorful with twinkly lights indoors and out for a really romantic and appealing atmosphere. The tri-level house is spacious and cozy at the same time! You'll never get bored exploring all the original art, china, crockery as well as multi-colored towels and plush bedding with top of the line Calvin Klein sheets in some of the rooms. Everyone who has stayed here can't wait to come back - and we are still quite reasonably priced. We like to go the extra mile so often leave extra surprises. We are always happy to accommodate your needs - if we can. So just ask! We will do our best to make this happen! I and our house manager are available with flexible schedules, so always text or call any time with queries. The house is on a keyless lock so entry and exit are easy as pie.

Well, in this case we threw caution to the winds and have created our dream house! Every wall is a different color and we have not held back with creative, fun, unique and whimsical choices! You'll get a big bang our of our one-of-a-kind decor! And you can't beat the lakefront location! Can you tell - we LOVE painted furniture and outsider art!

We've created a Victorian Cottage feel in a 50's split level. Go figure!
