Cedar Cottage, across from the river in Oughterard

Planning a trip to Connemara or the West of Ireland and looking for a home base for the week? Headed to Galway for the races, a sporting event, or a festival? Headed to Oughterard for a fishing trip or a wedding? Cedar Cottage may be the spot for you. Located just outside bustling village of Oughterard (10-15 min walk), you'll have access to all the West has to offer, with a country feel. Park your car in the driveway and walk to the village for lunch or a few pints as you take in views of the Owenriff River.

Within a 15 minute stroll of the lively village centre and across the street from a river, Cedar Cottage is a post war traditional cottage that has been completely renovated and brought up to modern day standards. Its centrally located in the West with quick access to Galway, the Wild Atlantic Way, and Connemara.

This lovely home accommodates six in three bedrooms and has a light and airy feel to it with lots of windows allowing natural light to flood the home set in this idyllic location.

It's set up for a family - bunk beds, a full size crib/cot, and tons of toys for infants, toddlers, and older children.

Great location to the village! I had trouble finding the house guide on VRBO so Kathleen was great to resend it! Very communicative!

Cottage was in a great location; town was quaint and walkable. We discovered a lovely walk to town across the street around the park. Host was very responsive with suggestions on where to eat and where to go for fishing info. Cottage was clean and well-appointed with a large kitchen and comfortable living area. However, sleeping areas were a little cramped for our family of six (2 seniors, 2 adults, 2 teenagers) with all our luggage. And one of the bathrooms, which was not pictured, was a challenge as the shower was not separate from the toilet and sink. Our remedy was to share the ensuite shower or use towels to dry floor after showering.

The cottage was exactly as described in the listing. Lovely, bright, very clean with a spacious kitchen and located right across from the park. It was a perfect base for my day trips up to Connemara and also to areas south of Galway. An easy walk into town for groceries, dinner at a pub or just for a drink and music at Clancy's. The host, Kathleen was easy to reach on VRBO and responded quickly.
