This log cabin is very secluded and peaceful and filled with sunlight.
My friend and I stayed for four nights at the cabin. The queen beds were very comfortable with cosy duvets. We both slept well.
The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, except for a teapot, but we found one at a local store and left it there for future guests. There are pantry staples for guests use, but check the expiry dates before using.
The owners put a lot of care into building a natural, nontoxic cabin with an air exchanger, which I value very much. The unfortunate thing was the myriad of toxic chemical cleaners under the kitchen sink, the perfumed dish soap and hand soap dispensers, and the smell of scented detergent on some of the linens. It would be nice to have non-toxic cleaning supplies available, as well as scent-free linens for a truly healthy get-away experience.
The wrap-around deck and the view of the lake was wonderful. You have to wade through some reeds and algae on the lake bottom to get into the water, so I suggest bringing some water shoes if this will bother you.
In the lounge area, there are two nice, white loveseats facing one another with a heavy glass coffee table in between. It felt a little too formal for a retreat space, and you couldn't fully stretch out, but there were comfy pillows and blankets that provided coziness.
There were a few surprises...
Firstly, there was a chain and padlock around the woodstove. Apparently, for insurance purposes, it's not available to renters, however, this was not indicated in the ad at the time we booked.
Secondly, the bbq uses charcoal, not propane. You buy your own charcoal to use it more than once (and you are asked to leave a donation if you use the charcoal or the firewood for an outdoor fire). We spent an hour trying to find charcoal since it was a little beyond bbq season. However, we really enjoyed the flavor of the food on this kind of fire (hint: use a paper towel soaked in cooking oil under the briquettes as fire starter).
Thirdly, a recent hurricane had damaged the wifi, so it was not available. This was not conveyed to us before our arrival. Luckily, we were not on a working vacation.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the cabin. We got the relaxation and peace we were seeking and we would return again.
