We chose this neighborhood because of its close proximity to the iconic UNESCO World Heritage Site, Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. This ancient religious site offers stunning panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and is sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus.
The area around Swayambhunath is also home to several cultural and historical gems, including:
- Natural History Museum: Situated at the base of Swayambhunath Hill, this museum features a fascinating collection of Nepal’s flora and fauna.
- Buddha Amideva Park: A peaceful park with large golden statues of Lord Buddha, providing a calm place for reflection.
