Our up to date historic home was built in the early 1900’s. The Mahan’s purchased the home & 11 acres in 1958 for $11,000. There was a barn & outbuildings that were soon filled with animals plus a large garden! We milked a few cows, had pigs & chickens. The current front yard is much the same as when we moved in! A building sat in the field on the right of the house that Dad remodeled into a 1 bedroom rental. The highway changed from a 2 lane into a 5 lane as it is today. The little house was taken but our home remained on the back edge of the property . The spacious front yard is much the same, the beautiful flowering bushes & flowers were here when we made it our home! When you sit on the porch swing watching the clouds you could be ready for a nap, make homemade ice cream or fill up on a sweet juicy Cave City Watermelon! Dad made several tiny rooms in to larger ones, creating the large living, dinning, kitchen & bedrooms , the garage, bunk-room & front porch were added after he retired! They now had more space for entertaining family & friends. Our Home was the Holiday Destination! Mother was an amazing cook so Dad built the abundance of cabinets! Grandchildren later the greats plus many neices & nephews & greats. You will enjoy our comfy house with sleeping room for 10. There is a full pantry with washer & dryer. Two full bathrooms & 2 bedrooms, plus the bunkroom that sleeps 6. The bunk-room has 2 large bunkbeds with double bed on bottom and single on top.
