I am a birder. The island is a major stopping point for birds migrating back and forth from Latin America. I like to watch the herons, pelicans, cormorants and other sea and air creatures while enjoying the spacious balcony, using the powerful optics provided. Of course I also like the amenities of a quality resort, in an opulent setting, and we certainly have that here. On the island you witness the divine sense of nature in a pacifying setting without the unnecessary and distracting trappings of modernity and commercialism so prevalent on the mainland. The whole island is a bird sanctuary. Please use our high-power binoculars and scopes and our tripods. We have a great library focusing on birding, boating, the Gulf of Mexico, and regional wildlife and history.
