The host was great and responded to all of our questions and issues very quickly and let us check in early after our flight landed early. The space was great for what we needed, but I would note the floors are a little thin so you can hear residents above and below pretty easily.

This apartment is very cute. Great size for 2 couples. I had to ask the owner a question and he answered within a minute! The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and accessories. Bring your own food and make anything! Even a loaf pan! We were very happy with everything!

Great location to all the spots in New Haven 8-10 uber ride which makes things easier and cost effective The apt is quite clean and very very big. The pics are accurate ,check in out was easy .

Everything about the place itself was great, however neighbors were up until 3am cussing and fighting and the area is very unsafe.

The neighborhood is typically very quiet, with children often playing outside. We would appreciate it if you could provide more specific details about what you observed that led you to describe the location as unsafe. Perceptions of an up-and-coming neighborhood can vary depending on individual experience. However, in the absence of any reported incidents, it is not accurate to characterize the area as unsafe. The host was super nice and thoughtful, when asked questions, she would answer right away. The house is historical, we got a chance to see the nice woodwork from the hardwood floor and kitchen cabinets. The rooms are spacious, and parking space is very large as well. The check in and check out instructions were very clear. The host really made our trip to New Haven easy and pleasant.

The unit was okay, not much more. It was exactly like any college apartment experience: old rundown house converted to apartments with thin walls, incredibly creaky floors/stairs, doors that won't close, very torn up driveway with huge potholes, etc.This place seemed to cater more to groups of college aged people looking for a pre/post bar hangout. The neighbors below (we were in the 2nd floor) weren't terribly loud but I could hear every conversation, laugh, and door slam - didn't make for a great nights sleep (for several nights). The unit is minimumly stocked - had to buy toilet paper and some other expected supplies - with appliances that don't work. The "couch" and adjacent furniture is the cheapest anyone could buy and very uncomfortable. They should've just bought old couches at Goodwill as those would've been better to actually sit on. The beds were okay.Would not rent again even though it is one of the lesser priced ones in New Haven.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. Though the outside of the property could use some TLC the inside was very quaint, clean, and provided all necessary amenities.

Nice property, Great communication, close to everything

We enjoyed our stay at this property. There was lots of room for us to gather and spend time together. The hosts were super helpful when we had any questions or issues and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The property was close to Yale and the freeway, which made it easy to get around. The house was well appointed with everything we needed and was a great deal for the price.

Spacious, Clean, and Convenient

I had such a wonderful stay at this VRBO! The hosts were very communicative and even included a gift before I arrived because they had noticed one of the televisions did not work. I stayed here for a conference at Yale, which was about a 15 minute walk away. The VRBO was in a great area, it was super clean, and everything I possibly could have needed was there. Highly recommend, and would absolutely stay again.

Tough neighborhood; not convenient to Yale

If you're driving, this place is probably fine. But the house next door has bars on the windows. Not recommended for a visiting scholar or a woman who wants to walk around the neighborhood. The rental itself is well equipped, but there are no numbers on the units, so you have to guess which one is yours. One of the other tenants has a dog, so be careful if you have allergies. The neighborhood was rough enough that I didn't stay in this rental. Be careful.

I would strongly discourage anyone from staying here based on the safety of the neighborhood. We circled the block three times before determining that our safety was at risk. Houses had bars on windows, no trespassing and security signs, chain link fences with dilapidated exteriors and trash littered the street and yards. People were loitering up and down the street. And this was midafternoon. The house we rented looked in good shape and based on photos I am sure it was nice inside but we felt even unloading luggage from the car we would have been targets. We forfeited our rental fees and found a hotel. I messaged our host and respectfully shared my concerns. He replied back that some guests weren't accustomed to an urban setting. Maybe not, but I wasn't willing to take that chance.

That said, I kindly want to point out that rating a property 1 star based solely on your perception of the surrounding environment — without actually entering or experiencing the home itself — doesn’t fully reflect the quality or accuracy of the listing. The property is exactly as described in the photos and listing details, and many guests have stayed here and expressed satisfaction with both the home and the area. Urban neighborhoods can sometimes appear different than what some travelers are used to, but that doesn’t automatically make them unsafe. In fact, this area is home to many hard-working families, and local residents who know the community well would not view it as dangerous. While your personal comfort is valid, using that discomfort as the basis for a 1-star review doesn't give future guests a fair or balanced perspective. I appreciate you reaching out to me privately before leaving, and I hope future stays meet your expectations more closely. Wishing you safe and comfortable travels ahead

We were in town for 2 nights for a youth sports tournament and had plenty of space in this unit for our family of 4 and our dog. The owner was easy to communicate with and quickly responded to and rectified any issues that we had. It is a 2nd floor unit which required navigating a narrow, winding staircase but that didn’t present a problem for us but is something to keep in mind for anyone with mobility issues. As it is an older building, there is not central AC, however the 2 bedrooms did have window units and fans and there was also a ceiling fan in the LR. When temps got quite warm in the main spaces during our summer weekend stay, the owner quickly brought us a large fan to help circulate the cool air from the bedroom AC units and it kept us comfortable during our 2 night stay. The beds were comfortable and the unit was clean. Certain items could use replacing such as the curtains & towels, but we enjoyed our stay as it gave us much more space for our family than a hotel would have offered. The unit was reminiscent of my old college apartment that had been one large house converted into several separate units. While we suburbans were a little uncertain at first based on the building’s outside appearance and urban location, in this case I would definitely say “dont judge a book by its cover” as we had a pleasant stay with our 2 children and we walked our dog around the neighborhood several times. We enjoyed being close to Yale and going to Sally’s pizza while in town
