This was our second stay here….our first visit was in June and both experiences were wonderful, which is why we were excited to return. The home is the perfect size for our family of four, very clean, and offers beautiful views. The host is responsive and easy to communicate with, which made everything even better. We were especially grateful to spend our Thanksgiving dinner here. We’d absolutely stay again!

Very clean, lots of space and beautiful views. We’ll probably stay here again in the future. I loved it, kids (six of them from age 2 to age 11), and my husband all really enjoyed our stay here. Host checked in with us and responded quickly when needed. No complaints here. We even saw a couple bears just around the corner during our stay.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Sweetgum. Getting to the property was simple, more than adequate instructions were sent to us so we would know every detail of our stay before arrival. Access to WiFi was a breeze. The hot tub was clean and hot. The whole place was clean. We had plenty of dishes to use in the kitchen. The view from the property is amazing! Even in the summer/fall when the trees have leaves, you still get a panoramic view. I woke up early and took Timelapse videos of the beautiful sunrise while sipping coffee. All TVs were already to go as far as watching immediately. Heat/air worked perfectly, fireplace was working and pretty, hot water was available. If there is anything I could mention to make it better (and let me remind you these things happen and the owner doesn’t know until it is brought to their attention) is they need better pools sticks downstairs. The ones we had to use were broken. Comfort of beds are a 5 out of 10. Sheets and pillows were nice though. There are no curtains in the living room. We saw a bear! It came right up to us so we casually went inside and it wandered away to the neighbors. Please do not feed the bears!

My husband and I enjoyed three days at Sweetgum Lodge with another couple. We both enjoyed our own personal privacy and also together time in the communal space. The photographs make the lodge look larger than it is, but there was plenty of room for the four of us. The million-dollar views of the mountains were a real delight. The kitchen had all that we needed to enjoy my husband's cooking. Also, Stephan, the host, is very prompt at replying to messages and was very polite and helpful. I would definitely give this VRBO high marks.

Home away from Home

We selected the property based on the stunning views, interior photos, and amenities. The property exceeded our already high expectations. The views were amazing, the property was beautiful and looked brand new. It was perfect for our family and a home away from home between hikes and activities.

Unforgettable Mountain Retreat

The property is beautiful! As our family of four arrived at the home we were greeted by a bear. It was an amazing site to see. We unlocked the door to an amazing wilderness view and a beautiful home. Our teenage daughter and young adult son definitely enjoyed the lower level. Enjoyed time playing pool and relaxing in the hot tub with a great view. We had a wonderful time at Stephen's home. He is a great host with lots of recommendations. Love the easy to navigate app. It was a great tool to use with all the information you need to check in and out easily. Peddler's Steakhouse Restaurant was very good with a big salad bar.. We had a great time at Dollywood Splash Park and Theme park and went Horseback riding at Jayell Ranch. We would definitely book Stephen's home again!Highly recommend!

Gatlinburg trip

The pictures don’t do this property justice. It was spotless and just as represented. The leaves were changing and the view from deck was beautiful. The host was very responsive and worked with us to extend our stay. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Wonderful time -highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. The owners were so kind and quick to respond to our messages. The first thing we noticed was how clean the house was, which was something I always worry about. The mountain view was beautiful! There was plenty of space and sleeping room for the 8 of us. I would definitely recommend staying here, we look forward to coming back!

Great place, beautiful views and responsive owners

Our family of four had a wonderful stay at the House of the Rising Sun. I would say that the pictures don't do the house and view justice, but the pictures are quite nice as well. The house was clean, updated and comfortable. We saw a mama bear and three cubs from the picture window in the main room, which was super cool. Easy drive to Gatlinburg and the national park. I recommend.

Great newer cabin in the smokey mountains

The cabin was a great stay for our family of 5 for 2 nights. Beautiful sunrise and loved the knotty pine rustic finish, big island, pool table, and hot tub after a long day in Gatlinburg and the Smokey Mountains. Owner was quick to respond and informative. Thank you!

Fall Getaway

Nice, quiet, clean stay in a beautiful cabin up a windy mtn road near Gatlinburg. We enjoyed lots of hiking and a little bit of shopping with plenty of relaxing as well. A great place to get away from the world for awhile.
