Listing stated there was air conditioning, but there was no installed, portable, or in-unit air conditioning. Cancelled the stay early as the heat was unbearable. Host then skewed the nightly rate, so I was not able to receive a refund from Vrbo or the host. Host has gone radio silent.

Close to U Chicago

This unit has a lot of potential but falls short. It is in a good location of Hyde Park close to U of Chicago. The neighborhood felt safe and was very walkable. It starts from the entry point, when the exterior gate would not open. This was not user error and not the host’s fault just a faulty gate as talking to residents, they said the problem persists. The unit didn’t feel dirty, but not clean either. Little things like dirt marks on the wall or dirty hand prints. To the cleanliness of the towelsThis works for a family of 3-4 but only barely. The bedroom really doesn’t support 2 beds. With no side tables and no furniture of any kind.No toilet paper holder and a toilet seat that is not secured made the bathroom and adventure. Honestly for minimal cost, most of the issues could be fixed

e stayed for the month of July 2025 taking a class at U of Chicago. Great location and easy walk to the campus. This is a basic college dorm apt. No frills, clean enough. Uncomfortable furniture. No dresser to put clothes away. No one prepared the place for our arrival. The air conditioners were not installed. The kitchen sink was backed up with sewage. The bedding was filthy. The microwave turned ON when you opened the door. The toilet seat was broken and there was no toilet tissue holder. The mgt. team responded quickly. A really nice person(sorry I forgot his name) came that evening and installed the AC, made minor repairs, and brought us clean sheets and comforters and a new microwave. I appreciate that he came out on a Saturday night to address the problems that were 100% preventable. The plumbing issues continued to be a problem. It was a few days before the plumbers fixed the sink and the apartment smelled like sewage. After the kitchen problem was resolved, the bathtub was clogged. It was another few days until that was fixed. Mgt responded quickly by text, but they had no first-hand knowledge of the apartment. There was no list of “house rules.” We asked where the laundry facilities were located. They said the laundry is “on-site.” It is in the basement of the adjacent building. We ask where to take out the garbage. They said “the bins outside.” There are no bins outside. You need to go out the back door and walk through an alley to the next street.
