First of all, the view is beautiful, even on an overcast winter day! We even woke up to snow showers on two mornings. Just enough to look pretty but not be a travel problem. The road to the house pretty much requires a 4-wheel drive, or at least a pretty high off the ground SUV . This maybe should be noted in the description if it’s not already. The person responding to the rental emails was very timely and nice. The person I called about the cracked coffee pot (coffee pot was an old stained yellowish white plastic Mr. Coffee) was not very pleasant and she said there was a Keurig (looked pretty old too) there for us to use. But, when there are 4 adults drinking coffee, we just wanted to make pots of coffee, not individual cups. She said there was an extra coffee maker in a locked closet but the housekeeper probably would not be able to get it for us until the next day. Most of us were going to be leaving the next day. I said thank you, but we’d probably just go buy a cheap Mr. Coffee for about $20 and then take it with us. She did have someone drop off a new one at the house, along with some Drano for clogged toilets and slow sinks later that day. When I told her that the toilet on the third floor was getting clogged up on just toilet paper and we had to unplug it several times, she questioned how many people were in the house! I was pretty insulted that she even questioned me on that! The house says it sleeps ten. We had 4 adults and 2 children, one of which is in diapers. Future renters should be aware that there is no dishwasher in the house. I don’t know if it’s mentioned in the description on the VRBO site, but I guess people would just kind of expect one in such a house that accommodates a large number of people, and especially since the checkout instructions I received gave instructions pertaining to the dishwasher. I was disappointed in the kitchen. Some of the cabinets were lined with aluminum foil; very tacky! Dishes were old fashioned Corel, cheap flatware did not match, and cabinets and drawers were pretty messy. The games provided (foosball, ping pong, and board games) were all in pretty poor condition. The railing on the deck does not seem to be high enough to meet code regulations. The railing in the house going up the steps between the first and second floors is loose and not safe. I have used VRBO many times and have been happy but not so much this time.
