Welcome to Causeway Cottage, an authentic Midcoast Maine getaway filled with original wood floors, vintage charm, and sunny coastal views. Overlooking Clark Cove and directly across from The Craignair Inn by the Sea, this cheerful 4-bedroom cottage has hosted generations of Maine memories and is ready to welcome yours.

Bright, welcoming, and full of natural light, the cottage features 4 bedrooms, sleeping 8 guests. The bedrooms include a king bed, and 3 full-sized beds, and a full bathroom with stall shower.

Original wood floors and warm, traditional Maine style throughout; laundry area on the first floor for easy post-beach refresh; Living, Dining & Sunroom; relax in the cozy living room after days on the coast; enjoy meals and game nights at the dining table.

Sunroom with panoramic views of the historic causeway - perfect for sunsets, morning coffee, or quiet reading with a coastal breeze; weekend getaways or extra room needed when staying at Craignair Inn.

Step outside to a large deck overlooking Clark Cove. Hear the waves, feel the salty air, and soak in the peaceful setting with a cup of coffee or an evening cocktail.

Historic Causeway & Clark Island

Just steps from the cottage sits the stone causeway leading to Clark Island, settled in the 1780s and once home to a renowned granite quarry. Its granite helped build Central Park bridges, the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, and the Library of Congress.

Today, Clark Island’s 124-acre preserve offers mowed trails, rocky beaches, wildlife, and the old quarry - making it a magical, family-friendly place to explore on foot.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of six had a wonderful three night-two day stay in the Causeway Cottage. We loved the views of tidal flats, ocean, and the walks on the island. The house was perfect for our group, clean, well-equipped, great porch, deck, and sitting room for relaxing in any kind of weather, and easy access to scenic walks.

Beautiful Maine home with fantastic views. We enjoyed our stay and spent time kayaking direct from the property, swimming in the nearby quarry and at the beach, and relaxing dinners on the deck. Kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable and house was very clean on arrival. Would stay again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home was wonderful for our family of 7. The house has been beautifully furnished and set up with everything you will need. The location is also what made this house special. The walks out into the water and exploring the tidal flats kept the children entertained for hours and hours. The large yard was great for frisbee and football catches. The island across the causeway provided great opportunities for light hiking. Maybe the most special part is the old granite quarry in the middle of the island. With its relatively warm water and large rocks for jumping, it was a magical place to spend time jumping, swimming, and floating! Also, being next to one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at was an added bonus. The owners of the Craignair Inn and Causeway Restaurant could not have been nicer. The food and drinks were some of the best that we have had anywhere! What made it more special was that they hosted a July 4th party on their lawn with their own fireworks. The one small thing to consider for large families is that it has only one bathroom. However, we knew that going in and managed it well with the kids. The tradeoff was definitely worth it!The location is also great because it is close to the Port Clyde Ferry if planning a trip to Monhegan Island. Grocery delivery is available from Rockland and plenty of great places to eat within 10-20 minutes! Lastly, the management company is superb. They are responsive to questions and helpful whenever you need it. They are just a quick phone call away.Thank you for helping to make our Maine vacation special.
