Suddenly, my home is “misrepresented,” simply because they damaged a chair and did not wish to cover the cost. Let’s clarify, I never needed to lie. The property is within walking distance, about two miles, as I mentioned. The guest even reassured me that this was “perfectly fine” since they routinely walk six miles daily. At any point, they could have verified the distance themselves and canceled the booking. They did not. Everything remained acceptable until I requested an additional charge for the damage. That’s when reality was replaced with creative storytelling in the review. Constructive feedback should help hosts improve, not serve as retaliation for being held accountable. I even provided the picture of the broken chair as proof. My professional suggestion to fellow hosts: Proceed with caution before handing over your home to this particular guest.
